2008-05-29 NOW: SD/NE/KS/IA/MN/WI

NICE shot! From that visual perspective, it seems that the RFD is somewhat cold in nature. Now, I think as that storm progresses eastward into lower LCL heights / richer boundary layer moisture it'll have a better chance of actually producing a tornado...

Looks like the NE cell is about to suck in the cell to the immediate southwest. If it merges, once it gets into the better dew points, we'll be in business. Only thing lacking is surface winds are veered to the south south west. If they can back a bit more as the evening progresses it would sure help out tornado prospects.

Storm about 10 miles west of Kearney has a nice big notch and large area of rotation -- not sure it's putting down now, but a hell of a meso for sure...

29385 and I agree not good. Two strong couplets passing over the city within 15 minutes. Hope everyone in shelter stays in shelter after the first one passes.

Edit: The first couplet intensified just after passing the city and the second seems to have weakened. Hopefully they dodged the bullet.

my parents live in Kearney and they have spotted the tornado. Kearney is around 30,000 along with a university (UNK).
