2/22/05 NOW: Southern California

Started a now thread for the developing and current thunderstorms over Southern California. Tornado watch continues till 6 pm. Funnel clouds spotted in San Diego and special marine warning saying thunderstorms offshore contain waterspouts.

G68 mph at Balboa Island (Newport Beach), California at 4:54pm Central as a thunderstorm moved overhead. Echo had a small hook with it and the area was under a tornado warning.

Partly cloudy now. Thunderstorms visible 40 miles offshore over catalina island. No lightning activity but evident shearing. Waterspouts still possible.
