FYI.

I received this email yesterday from the lady who runs the Twister Museum in Wakita, Oklahoma. We all had a pretty good time during the 10 year bash.

15th anniversary celebration of the Twister Museum will be Sept 18th on Main street in Wakita, Oklahoma all day long. Hope you can attend.

Amazing how time flies. I remember attending the 10th anniversary of the movie release back in 2005 and it is already 2009. Seems like last year. That was a fun party. I'd attend the upcoming event if I lived in the Oklahoma/Kansas area and not in Virginia. I usually drop by the museum if I pass by. Brings back memories from my first trip to the Plains in 1997 with Cloud 9 Tours. It's a nice museum.

Hey Mick, is this you and Shane? I found it on their website, twistercountry.com.

Yeah that is Shane and me. I am not sure why we were up there that day but while we were there they needed help unloading dorthy. Damn thing as actually very heavy.

The bad thing is we missed a good tornado day because we decided to go up there...:(

BTW - I am the sexy one on the left and Shane is the ugly one on the right lol jk.

Mick

Actually I think that was the day of the 10-year celebration; Mick and I were probably the last two chasers left towards the end of the day, and also the strongest LOL. Linda and the Wakita Mayor didn't have enough umph and asked us would we please unload her. It was very cool getting to unload the Dorothy that took a spill in Jo's yellow truck early on in the film.

FWIW, Bridge and I will be there for the 15th anniversary of the Twister Museum in Sept. Wakita is a charming little town in its own right, and the viewing up there is some of the best on the planet.

EDIT: Actually Mick is right. That was June 5, and we were up there to collect money from our DVD sales that Spring. I remember blowing off the chase that day thinking there wouldn't be enough LL shear, plus the tornado we'd nailed the day before had somewhat satisfied my appetite. I'll never blow off a chase day for business-related stuff again.

I believe it may be next September of 2010 and not this year. You can double check to be sure. My e-mail had 2010?

My email just says "Sept 18"....although this would only be the 14th anniversary of the making of the movie. However my email says the celebration is for the museum itself.

Heh...I remember the movie getting such criticism after it came out. Many people I knew talked bad about the special effects. I thought it was good, myself. We owned a copy till the kiddo wore it out. He watched it so many times that I could recite it, line by line.

The kiddo told me that he wanted to be a "twister scientist" when he grew up. That's why I chase, really just to support his dream!;):p

Sept 15th...is this an invite only sort of event??

I'm fairly certain this will be open-to-the-public event. I think we got the personal invites because we've been there before and Linda knows us.

FWIW, I checked on the date and Sept 18 this year is a Friday, while in 2010 it's a Sat....I'd guess it's happening in 2010 and Linda just forgot to put the year in her email.

Yes it certainly is!!!!

The Core crew will be there all day live on the net, with lots of commentary, interviews, and other fun stuff...be sure to log in throughout the day and check to see what we're up to.

Also, Mickey and I will be selling our chase DVDs as well, so if you're planning to attend and need a little SDS relief for the upcoming slow months, stop by and we'll hook you up ;)

Charles Edwards just alerted me yesterday about this. I hope to make it, I probably will have to work until early afternoon so I doubt that I can make it before 4pm.. hopefully they're will be a few folks left around to say hi to. Also, I might be interested in purchasing a video or two. Looking forward to the occasion.

I'll be there! Hoping to have my 2010 chase video ready by then...still a few adjustments to make. Will bring some stills to show as well.

Hope to see some of you there!
