• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Tornado reported in northern Brevard county. Warning till 2:30 Scottsmoor, Haulover Canal. Tornado watch for all Central Florida. Shuttle cancelled. Let's see what else cooks. Tornado damage in Oceola county.

No LSR's so it must not be too serious of damage. This setup looks like any tornados would be the embedded squall line quickies. Very little lightning in some of the cells (none in the SVR warned one west of MLB)

- rd

PS Shuttle isn't canceled, it's just landing in California as expected.

Yes Rob, I was hasty in my description. When I said cancelled, I meant cancelled landing in Kennedy Space Center. Got a bowing section coming into Brevard now. Yes, not much lightning, but we'll take what we can get. Osceola did have an official report of vehicle damage:
1755 3 WNW CELEBRATION OSCEOLA FL 2833 8159 TORNADO OBSEREVED NR INTERSECTION OF US192 AND N.OLD LAKE WILSON ROAD. MINOR VEHICLE DAMAGE REPORTED (MLB)

TORNADO OBSEREVED NR INTERSECTION OF US192 AND N.OLD LAKE WILSON ROAD. MINOR VEHICLE DAMAGE REPORTED (MLB)

Very curious how a tornado only touches down in an intersection and only causes minor damage to a vehicle. Sounds strange.

Nexrad has a tvs on this storm.

It's just getting confused in close to the radarsite, if you check velocity you'll see there is nothing present.

Well in the pdf file, which was from the storm relative velocity, you can see a little green speck next to a tan one below the signature and the "V6" storm label, which arguably (though maybe not compellingly, ha) could have been some brief doppler noted rotation. No doubt that's reaching but still a chance perhaps?

Sure there was a smidge of rotation in there - but was it something that could be connected to possible tornado? No way. TVS tripping due to the clutter. Not a thing showed up on any GR2 algorithms, and there's nothing visually that says it either. I've been watching MLB all day for the shuttle landing coverage at NSF, and only the intial stuff near Orlando looked even remotely possible to have real rotation.

I wasn't suggesting the TVS on the Melbourne area storm actually indicated a tornado, just that we actually had some rotation. The only claims they're making on the news here for tornado damage is the Oceola vehicle--maybe someone's moped got hit by a twig? It might not be a laughing matter though for someone of course. Anyway, looks like there's not much else happening now. Maybe someone out near the ocean got lucky and saw a waterspout? There were some marine advisories earlier about that possibility. Greg Forbes on weather channel did just claim there was a "tornado in the theme park area of Orlando. . . and we still could get a couple more of those." Maybe that storm heading towards Vero Beach. Or not. 67 degrees now. Feels over. Which exactly were the embedded supercells anyhow referred to by SPC?

As it turns out Rob, that TVS I noted very well could have been what produced the tornado report that now has come in for Palm Bay, which is right next to Melbourne. The time of the report was 3:40 PM, and my post and screenshot was about 20 minutes before that.

Palm Bay is well southeast of that rotation, and not in the path, unless I'm reading it wrong. And 20 minutes of time for cells moving 50mph would put that "TVS" out to sea.

Any more on the "minor car damage from tornado"?

I'm not sure what accounts for that damage then. Here's the larger storm velocity pic at the same time attached. What would you point to here as the culprit? Maybe cell Y4? Also, just because the reports came in at 3:40 doesn't mean that's the first appearance of the tornado.
At one point in the afternoon there were two severe warned cells rolling into the Palm Bay/Melbourne vicinity (note that Melbourne is between Palm Bay and Satellite Beach--it's not shown on the map there), but I think that was after 4 pm. No news on the other report yet. [I deleted the pdf file here and put it in the discussion thread]
