10/22/10 FCST: OK/TX/KS

The western KS target looks better this morning. The RUC is showing colder air aloft than the NAM had last night, and there are nice areas of clearing across SW CO into KS creating steep low level lapse rates that are pushing northeast. Small cells are starting to pop across Greeley and Wichita counties KS. We may see some low topped supercell structures out of these and possibly a tornado or two.

Areas further south near Wichita Falls, TX seemed to be plagued by cloud cover, probably because of the shortwave pushing through. Areas a little further north by I-40 still have some clearing and may destabilize enough to get some decent storms later.

FWIW, the 14z HRRR has a massive supercell between Fort Worth and Wichita Falls in the 23z-0z time frame. I couldn't get off today, so good luck to anyone who heads out.
