• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Figured with the first tornado warnings being issued, NOWcast is warranted. Current warnings for the SE Memphis Metro Area, storms racing NE at 60mph! Warm front is pushing thru Nashville at this time and storms are beginning to pick up steam near Baton Rouge, with Alabama staying quiet, for now. TOR Watch continues til 4 pm, new watch probable for TN, AL and rest of MS around noon or 1 pm. The storm just north of Baton Rouge is rotating, I expect a tornado warning shortly.

upgrade to a moderate risk with serious storms...

i just heard on the TV that byhalia had a tornado right near the city, and i know people there...it is goin down! i cant believe it!!

300-400 0-1 KM helicity!! the winds are whipping hard out here...im fixin to ride out and check up on the storms when the come near my area...

the storms are starting too look worse on radar, like in a weaker way...almost looking stratified in some of the images...if you filter out the weaker echoes you can see where the real storms are, and theyre not lookin to hot...

there are low clouds all over the place...and it looks like there arent any individual cells firing ahead of that line yet...but then again, its only 10:55AM so peak heating hasnt hit yet...

there was a little storm NE of meridian that was looking pretty good, but it looks like there kind of struggling with the shear out there...atleast from my observations...

im sitting here right now in itawamba county waiting for a warning...

definatly looks like AL might be having the better chances if things dont change quick here in north, MS...
----------------------------------------
the storm north of port gibson is looking pretty intense, and now has a tornado warning on it...looks like theres rain all around it, so its probably going to be very difficult to see...its been showing a broad area of rotation, but it looks to be tightening up crossing hwy 61...

the storm coming into the winona area looks impressive too...there is also minimal lightning activity with these storms outside of their main precip areas, so people might not even know whats in store for them until it hits...
----------------------------------------
storm just SW of utica is goin hard...nasty little kidney bean shape on that cell...add the cell SE of hazelhurst and look at all the other ones, and we could be looking at a major tornado outbreak unfolding!

A strongly rotating storm is gettin ready to cross the MS River, out of Tensas Parish,LA and into Clairborne Co., MS, which is one county south of Vicksburg. Also, very active storm approaching McComb, MS and it is also tornado warned, it'll pass just SE of McComb shortly. Another watch to be issued shortly for the remainder of MS and se LA. Northern AL and Middle TN probably within the next 2 hours.

This grabed my attention quickly, I have much family in these areas, this is not looking pretty.

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A FEW STRONG...LONG-TRACK TORNADOES OVER A PART OF
THE SOUTHEASTERN U.S THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT. MAJOR METROPOLITAN
AREAS IN THE MODERATE RISK AREA INCLUDE BIRMINGHAM AND HUNTSVILLE
ALABAMA...JACKSON MISSISSIPPI AND NASHVILLE TENNESSEE.

Sitting in Meridian under the cloud deck which seems to go on with no end in every direction, but I have a handful of tornado warned cells making bee-lines for me. Also keeping tabs on the cells developing to my south. Trying to decide if I play the further west, or hang here with these guys and let the western cells come at me. Oiy, the tricks of the trade... what to do... LOL

NWS Jackson, MS homepage looks like a bloodbath with all the tornado warnings issued. Storm firing SW of Tuscaloosa, Alabama now, the local stations in Nashville, once again, from what I'm hearing, are trying to play off the threat, thats what they originally said about April 7th, 06 the day before it happened, and that morning as well.

Tony you are braver than I! :p Glad you made it out there OK...

With the these cells moving at a good clip and the few storms to your west that are tornado warned looking a bit junky and disorganized, I would hang where you are at with a view to getting further north and east as the day progresses (you have a great road from your location to Tuscaloosa). I don't know what your road options are like without getting down there with GoogleMaps, but freeways will likely play a significant part in being able to see ANYTHING today.

Just my 0.02, good luck out there!

Nashville TV has been downplaying any threat since Tuesday. They seem to be stuck on their "Predictor" products.

Very dangerous situation here since public is largely unaware of the current threat. I'm hearing even W TN is unaware of threat.

I think approximating the color of tornado warnings on a map to a "bloodbath" is fairly ineffective prose.

Things should start to get organized later in the day but I still see a Nrn AL show for today.

I'm heading for HSV. Should be a good location to head north or west quickly.

We got 8 active warnings now in MS/LA so I would say things are getting rather organized now.... Very interesting to watch the weaker cells in front of the main band rotate and become tornado warned.. No doubt these storms are different beasts from what I'm used to here in the plains states, and good luck to anyone who goes out in the field today!

There is now a TOR out for a cell ENE of Hattiesburg which isn't even in the watch area (it is east of the watch). Interesting considering this storm is forming on a line of convection which is far ahead of the frontal mess, and also forming in good return-flow air. I wonder when the next tornado watch will be issued?

anytime you see odds at 60% for 1 or more EF 2 twisters or higher and a PDS watch that large, it raises a red flag.......

What an early start to the season this year!!!
