• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Nothing to get too excited about, but since there are so many people taking chasecations I'm surprised there haven't been many posts lately. Today we are taking a chance on the Black Hills of SD and perhaps NE WY or NW NE as our target area. We are initially looking at Hot Springs SD as our target or the place to set up and analyse data - we were there the other day and had solid internet connectivity. As we are traveling through east central Wyoming this morning the clouds are starting to break up more and more. A shortwave trough that is currently over Utah will lift NE throughout the day and in response to this a surface boundary will setup in eastern Wyoming creating an area of focused convergence this afternoon. This should allow for better dynamics and forcing than has been present over the last couple of days. With dewpoints in the low to mid 50s and an airmass that is marginally unstable (6.5 C/KM Lapse Rates) things are looking better but still marginal. If we can get some more insolation to the lower levels over the next few hours that will help. One other thing I like is that mid-level winds are out of the SW at 500 mb and are out of the SE at the surface, so a bit of turning with height. I actually noticed some decent SRH (250 m/s) and CAPE values (1500 J/kg) on the 0Z RUC in NE WY, but believe the CAPE may be on the high side. We're hoping for a miracle as we've driven a fair distance on this event, especially since it only warrants a "See Text" on the SPC SWODY1. The one drawback about eastern Wyoming is the lack of road networks, but I'll take severe weather over poor roads at this point as I'm in severe weather withdrawls right now!

I'm looking between Burton NE to Chamberlin SD. The weak troph and upper level narrow jet are mentioned in the NWS forecast. Maybe not be a TOR possibillity; but possibly a photo op for thunderstorms over the Plains with the possibillity of SVR.

I'll look at the RUC in the early AM and decide if it is still worth the trip.
Better than no chase - that is for sure...
