The tornado had a very large wedge from the video I have seen with spotters indicating it was near 1 mile width just prior to moving into the Greenburg area.

KSNW out of Wichita reporting the tornado now over Trousdale, KS with extensive circulation. This same station is making a PRELIMINARY report that up to 60% of homes in Greensburg have suffered damage, citing as their source first responders from Pratt Regional Medical Center.

If SPC mesoanalysis is at all up-to-date, all of the severe parameters in central Kansas are extremely unstable even at this late hour.

The particular storm in question is still very vigorous and can already be classed as a long-tracked tornado. Also, ANOTHER confirmed large tornado near Hopewell, KS.

Pratt Regional Medical Center have 3 groups of EMS crews en route to Greensburg. They are saying the possibility of 60% of houses in Greensburg have been destroyed. KSN.com has live coverage. Chasers are reporting numerous tornadoes currently on the ground.

I am posting a request from Darin Brunin.

I just hung up the phone with him. He is in Greensburg and reporting huge damage. His words were that the damage path could be up to 2 miles wide. He and Dick McGowan are in the process of rescuing people from their homes. They have said that there are not enough emergency personnel to help out all the victims. Their request is that if anyone is near the town to please stop and help the people. They are reporting dazed and confused people just roaming around. I could hear it in his voice that this is a terrible situation in Greensburg. Those people need help.

Pulled from easternwx:

KSN reporting Highway 54 is closed in Greensburg with numerous EM vehicles moving toward there.

A scanner said 60% of the buildings in Greensburg are destroyed.

In "now" content, this badboy looks to have more than one, up to three? rotation spots now. The big one is looking rain wrapped.

You need to keep in mind too that Greensburg is literally only a mile across. It is tiny. The East side of town would end exactly two miles West of the intersection of 183 and 54, so if somebody can go back and look at radar you could probably get a better feel for whether Greensburg got hammered. KWCH chasers are reporting the roads are all blocked and phone lines are down so damage reports will be slow to come out. There was a farmstead hit South of Greensburg 7 miles that did significant damage.

I just don't like the data I'm looking at on GR2 - looks like a large empty echo inside of the couplet, and it's almost directly over Greensburg! Any reports from the field coming in? I'm concerned for our chasers out there this time of night.

For some reason, my posts are not posting so forgive me if it double posts.

we get radio info here... since Ford county is in communication with Kiowa... there is major damage in Greensburg. There are injuries and whatnot... they needed "all the help they could get" no comms other than radio communication in Kiowa Co.
