Your Best Lightning Shot to date...

My first CG of the year- love that it captures the whole landscape. The storm was stalled to my north- not an easy feat if you know lightning photography in the northeast
@Hannah.Taylor Still working on them 😊 wish I had my zoom lens on at the time, but it’s nice for once to capture the whole scene

It's been a while since I posted, and while it's not the bolt itself, but what can happen when it hits your freshly built home. Currently researching lightning mitigation systems as I watch another prolific lightning producing storm pass overhead with a previously unknown sense of anxiety I never felt before chasing bolts for 15 years. Be safe out there everyone.

I'm gonna nominate this as probably one of my best daytime lightning/structure shots. This was a four-image stack of one-second exposures (f/18 at 24mm) on this incredible supercell in northwest Texas. I'd argue this was one of the better, more fun non-tornado chases I had all season, and was certainly a looker most of the day.

Oddly enough, this year has generally lacked for me in terms of NIGHTTIME lightning, which is my bread-and-butter. But I've had multiple opportunities for daytime sessions, and they've yielded a handful of keepers, a couple that would rank in the top for me in the daytime arena. Still waiting for some more sunset/nighttime opportunities here in Colorado, but I have been more than happy with the unique-for-me daytime chances and have felt like I've definitely made the best of those opportunities.

Incredible! There haven’t been many nocturnal opportunities for me either. Not just nighttime, but overall this year not been as photogenic for me.
August is usually pretty good… so I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of us. Thanks for sharing!
