• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

You know you're a storm chaser when...

family is other places

Your family knows you like to chase and even if they are in other states (RI , NY, Mass etc)

they still ask you if you chased today (if they call)

eventhough there might only have been one tornado somewhere in the US

When you lose your job of 2 years to chase for a week straight in KS/MO/IA/NE and only come out with a small EF0 needle tornado...and you don't care. :D

When you hear about NWS/NOAA cut backs and you instantly look for more information and the phone number and email of your representatives urging them not to allow for the reduction.

When you cancel your static weekly plans with a friend 2 days in advance because there is a potential for storm activity on that day. Though the forecast discussions call for "less than impressive lapse rates, instability and CAPE" the night before (It could always change!!) ..

..you do not say you will kidnap your friend and make them go along just to keep the plans because you prefer to chase with NO distraction although you have done so before.

When you grab your camera, keys and drivers license and run out of the house while still in pajamas to go meet a sudden squall line..and you are driving on fumes.

Been there, done that... popping vicoden and darvocet and letting Andy Gabrielson bounce me down some gravel "roads" in northern SD.

When you bolt out the door last minute as you bleed from the mouth because you're recovering from oral surgery. A cup to spit blood in becomes your most valued piece of equipment that day. Been there done that! 6-7-08!

We need a Great Lakes section. How about, when you piss and moan because once again the NAM shows today's nicely backed surface winds in Kansas veering tomorrow as the low arrives in your neighborhood looking like an emaciated stringbean...and yet, you still make contingency plans to head out, just in case things change...I mean, you just never know.

when you are supposed to get married but you plan a chase trip instead.. Yes, I'm in hot water for Friday and Saturday...:(

When the view in the car is no good of the tornado, and you decide to chase it on foot to get the shot! Yes I did that on May 10, 2008! This was after chasing it in the car, and I had to just get out to get a view of it again!

You know you are a Storm Chaser if :

You show up at a storm chaser car show , enter your truck in the best looking and you dont wash your truck .

You think Twister is the best Comedy of 1995/96.

You would screw up a good job in this market , to chase a nice 3 day setup.
