• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

You know you're a storm chaser when...

I'll add some...

When your co-workers ask you whats the forecast and give you the nickname "Doppler"

When a relative 150 miles away calls and asks if they are safe from the Tornado spotted in the next town over from them...

You ask your wife multiple time to check that the car insurance is paid and up to date.

You perform dry runs on snow storms.

I've been tempted!

Yeah.. I just bought a new/used car last week.. I used to be a damage appraiser for an insurance co and I know sometimes certain vehicles have really expensive glass for no apparent reason. Like as an example you dont want a vehicle that has a heated windshield, they are typically over $1000

Windshields and Back Windows

I know for a fact that storm chasing in my 2002 Buick Century car would be a expensive decision. My windshield has a black area at the top for a radio antenna. And my back window has a defroster grid, which is very useful on those frosty mornings. Both would be very expensive!

I'm not going to go out and price the cost of replacing these items because I had hail damage on my previous car(s). Once I had a 67 Buick Special that was well preserved since it was driven in a small town and was stored in a garage for five years. A hail storm with golf ball sized hail while I was parked at a laundromat left dents all over the car. A couple of years before that I was in Colorado where we had baseball sized  hail that fell out of a storm coming off the Rockies!
