Yup...up to my polling questions again:

Been hearing a lot of folks talk about chasing this hurricane season. Looks like another CF maybe.

So after answering the poll question above...feel free to discuss.

Note...poll closes 60 days from now.

I might do one but for some reason it doesn't seem too exciting unless its a major hurricane. I can get 80mph wind and rain from nightly MCSs here in the midwest...and at least those have some lightning and hail [I know some hurricanes have lightning but its rare.]

I may go after a major cane if the time and place is right.

I just have no desire too. Something about 7 hours of wind and rain doesn't appeal to me. I am not bashing hurricane chasing, but I just don't think I would enjoy it. Not my cup of tea.

I'll catch the leading bands of a landfalling storm in Florida... you can get some beautiful shots depending on the available lighting. I won't stick around for the duration of rain and wind though... have had my share of that. :D

I had to vote "never have, never will". I've been in several Cat 1-3 typhoons in Korea and the Philippines and a few hurricane remnants in Texas, but it doesn't appeal much to me to potentially get boxed in by downed lines, debris, and trees and being cut off from communication and basic services. And you really have to be in the thick of that kind of thing to get good video. I respect those that have the fortitude to do it, though... it's definitely for the tough chasers.

I'd like to do it once just to say I did. I really have little desire to chase hurricanes, but I'd like to experience it at least once. Like others have said, wind and rain for a week would suck as well as the other factors. The guys and gals that do it are tougher than me, that's for sure.

Thanks to being out of high school I have an easier schedule this fall, as college classes can be more easily handled. I plan on chasing many canes this fall, but if we start getting one a week like 2005... Then the point may come where enough is enough.

I'll chase multiple cyclones inside and outside of the USA-- in either basin. I love chasing hurricanes-- it's the only storm chasing I do and I find it thrilling. To each his own, I guess.

Jason, be forwarned as Bart referenced, it is very addictive. Much different than plains chasing but it is still severe wx. And isn't the reason we all chase, to some extent, is to see and feel the power and beauty of God's creation. It's a different kind of 'awesome' but it's still incredible. Oh, and one more thing, there is not as much chaser convergence and general public to fight, most are going the opposite way.

I plan on chasing any major US landfalling storms. I wouldn't waste my time and money with a weaker hurricane though. If we get a cat 5 I'd consider going to Mexico. Otherwise I'll keep it in the good ole US of A.

Gustav in 08 was my first. Only experienced at Cat 1 strength. If something is going to get blown apart within a reasonable drive I'll be there. One of the coolest things about the trip for me was driving back north with north winds sustained at about 50 to 60 miles per hour. First time I had ever driven for miles and miles at 50 mph with no wind noise. Put your hand out the window, only a slight breeze. It was so quiet in the truck you could hear trees crashing out in the woods as you drove down the highway. Just little stuff like that is good. I'm not going to drive right up to the ocean and let the waves crash over my truck or nothin', hope the swell isn't too high.
