Hasn't it already been said that iMap is simply an option if you want it? Some of you sure are making a mountain out of a mole hill! Jeez...

Yep Steve...just like you've been saying, you can't please everyone no matter what you do and no matter who you are. I always say that if God did the weather on tv, someone would still have something to bitch about.
 
All I have to say is Steve has gone above and beyond in helping me when issues came up on streaming. I take him at his word that CTV will be the same. As to arguing about losing money on video that you stream, that is not close to where the real loss is coming from. When everyone records on their phones and gives video away for free there in lies the largest loss of selling video.

Steve...you are taking my comments out of context. I was simply reflecting on what others may feel, not that it is the case. I thought I was actually pointing out the aspects of why CTV is doing BETTER than the others. There are elements to question...yes, but until the system is in place, being used, it is speculation, not an argument of facts.

If you (or Scott) were offended by what I posted, then my apologies. I do appreciate your service, efforts and help. I have no plans to leave CTV either.

I have a quick question...

If I decide to 'opt-in' to iMap then should I not embed my webcam stream onto my website, etc if I'm hoping to earn revenue from my stream through iMap? In other words, do I still earn if someone views my stream on my website or would they have to go to CTV's iMap tracker and click on my icon there for me to earn revenue from iMap?

Just trying to figure how I'm going to setup things...

You will get revenue from all iMap watchers, the one on your site, TVN, WDT, scripts stations - all of them. Hope that helps.
 
Lanny brought up some possible concerns related to chasers using Imap earlier in the thread and it was pointed out that the Imap option is just that - 'Optional'. I'd like to also mention that another reason why it may not be a concern is because of the typical low quality / low bandwidth often encountered while streaming. More specifically, you could capture and stream a nice tornado which would be streaming live across the Imap, but since typically streams have a much lower frame rate and quality rate, in my opinion if it was a decent, worthwhile marketable event networks would still be willing to purchase your better quality footage. Sure there will be the odd times when you happen to be parked close enough to an urban area or interstate and have your profile set at higher rate quality I'll grant you that, but the rest of the time no worries. Of course then the issue is timeliness. You likely have to stop and upload your video - breaking off the chase, which is pretty much something I'd never want to do unless I was about done anyway. Hopefully you have a secondary video camera recording directly to media as opposed to live, or you have your dashcam set up to both stream and archive to the pc / media.
 
Sorry I'm not with Chaser Tv, have any of the changes started yet? I know when I was watching some live streams on Sunday everyone had the old GPS maps so I wasn't sure when or if we would notice a change at all.

Nothing has changed yet. From what I understand, nothing will CHANGE anytime soon, the iMap will just be added (if streamers choose to opt in). Not sure how far along the iMap is, though.
 
Hey guys I feel bad because I don't have any official updates but we are working with WDT daily to integrate the 2 systems.

When there is an official update we will send an email out from the CTV support email address.
