• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Suggestion....may want to fire out a short email just letting everyone know the iMap option is not ready just yet. I've been going to the site every 5-6 days and looking around for it, and I'm never sure if I'm just missing it or if it is not ready. I hate to bug people, so I don't email asking, I just wait....

I received an email on March 13th saying they were going to be sending an email asking info required to setup iMap accounts "this week". That was last week, and I still have not received anything. Did my junk mail filter catch it? Has anyone else received anything? Thanks--

I received an email last week saying they expect to roll out with imap on April 1st. So hopefully it wont be too much longer. I would like to have everything configured and setup before I head out on my next chase.

Interesting...I haven't received an email (unless I missed it or my junk mail caught it) since January 29?

**Edit** - I guess David and I posted basically the same thing at basically the same time...lol. Glad I'm not the only one that missed the emails...

Since there is nothing of personal nature in the emails in question, I'll post them here since I think it will be a help to all involved.

Here is the email I received on 3/13:

Hello ChaserTV streamer,

We wanted to give you an update letting you know when to expect the ability to stream into the iMap system. We are in the process of setting up new servers in order to handle the increased traffic we expect for this severe season, as well as finalizing the software needed to allow you to easily add your streams to iMap. If you’re not interested in showing up on iMap there will be nothing for you to do, everything will work as it does now.

We are planning to be fully integrated by April 1.

This week we’ll send out requests for the information we’ll need to set up iMap accounts for everyone wishing to stream in iMap. Once an iMap account is created you’ll be able to log in and access your administration portal as well as download the iMapTracker software you would run to show up in iMap. It will be next week before we’ll actually have the ChaserTV streams visible in iMap, though, and we’ll be testing and optimizing everything up until the official release date.

If you are not interested in streaming into iMap and don’t want to receive emails relating to iMap integration just reply letting me know and I’ll flag your email address to not send you iMap updates.

As always, please email or call if you have any questions or concerns. For ChaserTV or iMap technical support please call 1 (866) 429-5578 or visit http://support.wdtinc.com/ and fill out the support request form.

Best of luck in the 2011 severe season!

J.R.

I just now got the following email on 3/25:Jeff,
I’ll probably be sending out requests this weekend. This week’s storms slowed us down a little. Still planning on being ready April 1, though.
Most of the mechanics are in place, but we have to finish the documentation to make it easy for everyone to add the iMap option.
Thanks for your patience, and good luck chasing!

J.R.

I know the only thing I can add is sit tight but as I said before I know they are working every day to get things integrated.
I don't think anyone is getting more emails or info than anyone else, I have seen the April 1st date too.

Obviously ChaserTV still works like it always has however the technical things need to be put in place to make it play well with the iMap system.

I have had a setup on the iMap (but not integrated) for some testing and learning of my own, it was not that difficult to do and once the information is released I will be happy to help anyone as much as I can.

Hey Everyone -

As you can imagine, we've been busy getting ready for storm season. The good news is that we're ready to start taking sign ups for the iMap Tracker! JR sent out an e-mail this week with information, however, I know some people did not receive it, or it ended up in Spam (This is also a reminder to make sure your e-mail address is current!)

The details have been posted at http://admin.chasertv.com - We will have full integration working by Friday April 1st.

Remember, it's a manual process for us to add you into the iMap, so we might not get back to you right away, however, we've been doing same day setups so far. Anyone with questions or problems are encouraged to contact JR or myself.

The only thing that stands out to me on this is....submitting reports. So, this is separate from the report I'm submitting to Spotter Network. Is there no way to integrate the two together? By the time I report by amature radio, then type up the Spotter Network report, then click over to the iMap to type up a report there.....a lot of time has gone by, and I'm feeling like a court reporter.

Jeff -

It's just there as another means to submit a report. It will cause the report to pop up on the iMap. If you saw a tornado, you can even take a picture of the tornado, and submit it. If you're making a report by Amateur Radio, then there's no reason to make a report through other means. We're just giving you more tools to make a report, not asking you to add on or replace other means. I think most will still continue to make reports with Spotter Network.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to drop a quick update on here - We've got the integration almost complete, but are still doing some testing. If you stream to ChaserTV, and run your tracker program, you will show up on both the ChaserTV site and the iMap. We ask that you remain in demo mode while testing on the iMap.

There may also be periods of downtime today while we finish development and testing and restart servers, etc. so please bear with us.

I also wanted to mention that we've got what looks to be a multi-day severe weather event, so those of you wishing to utilize the iMap for those events should get everything setup and working today or tomorrow, as we'll only be able to provide limited support during severe weather days.

Thanks for the understanding, and let me or JR know if you have any questions!

I think either later today or tomorrow I'm going to do the sign up and test things myself. If I don't like it...I know I can go back...but what would the approx. time it would take to return back to the original CTV set-up?

You could simply just not run the iMapTracker software. The settings will stay the same for ChaserTV, you're just in essence running an extra iMapTracker program to put yourself on the iMap.
