Typhoon Morakot 100 inches of Rain

So much for my theory that Taiwan can take anything a typhoon can throw at it and be cleaned up by the next day.

Have they verified any rainfall data yet? According to the Extreme Weather book the record 24 hour rainfall is 74" on Reunion Island. Taiwan does make the top 20 three times for what looks like the same storm in 1963.
