I recently found out there is a new show that they are releasing on CMT in Canada and if it gets a larger following they will release it in the US. The Show Follows

Greg Johnson-- Photographer

Chris Chittick-- Former TVN Filmer now on his own mission

Ricky Forbes--- Driver

I feel this show might be good from what I have seen but still up in the air about it. Have any of you seen this and what are your thoughts. Do you think this will inspire more Yahoo chasers or could it be good.

This show will have a far greater chance of creating more idiot chasers than the recent movie everyone loves to hate. It's a Canadian Storm Chasers. I didn't care for the show when they did it in America 5-6 years ago. Maybe someday someone will make a show about the storms instead of the chasers. But I doubt it.

I've been doing some research for a production company who was initially interested in producing a new "chasing / weather" themed show for a major cable network. The general consensus is the concept is "over worked." They considered a few independently produced shows, but decided the concept of getting dangerously close was growing old.

There is also the problem of sustaining an audience beyond the central United States.

A marketing friend told me a few years ago that chasing (production value), would eventually become passé after the initial burst of extreme pursuits became commonplace on TV and in social media. This may be the reason Into The Storm failed. I believe the golden days of "chasertainment" are quickly fading.

I'd agree with that - the everyday-life non-chaser utterly doesn't care about chasing. Our prized trophies are yawners to most. Traffic to my tornado photos and chase reports has always been a trickle, and I only have one decently-performing tornado video on Youtube. I hope any chaser involved in a show can do well, but I'm surprised that any significant effort and expense is being poured into any chasing-themed entertainment these days, either on a personal or commercial nature.

I haven't even produced a highlights DVD since 2003. Despite having more than enough material to make a decent one now, I know it would be effort and expense down the drain.

New chasers' starry-eyed enthusiasm and ambition these days is a painful thing to witness when you realize it will be years before they figure out the cold, heartless indifference the rest of the world really has for us.

With all the interesting people out there chasing storms, I don't recall ever saying "I hope that Chittick guy and Johnson guy team up for something amazing on TV because I can't get enough of them". It's cool that they're on TV, following their dreams, yadda yadda, but they're already playing the adrenaline junkie card pretty well and from what I've seen that's not something the marketing team cooked up out of nowhere. This "chasers as xxx-treme rockstars" thing needs to die already.

Also: close your mouth, Greg.

It looks pretty much like a Storm Chaser clone. The facial expressions crack me up. Did they sit in front of a mirror and try to mimic Timmer. (lol) No offense intended, just looks goofy.

The big problem I see here is the possibility of pushing the limits too far in order to make an even more extreme show.

I thought it was telling after reviewing the fourth trailer how the company ladies at the conference room table appeared to be getting cold feet after investing in a chase vehicle and seeing no ROI to date. They didn't look impressed by his newest idea either if I read their faces correctly. I would NOT want to be him to put it bluntly, because the situation has started to adversely affect his health. Most anti anxiety medications that I have knowledge of cause drowsiness and can impair driving skills, so it's a shame he's let it go that far.

FWIW, it appears to be a knock-off and in the same vein as the Discovery channel series that ran its course in the span of four years. I'll give this new version one season before CMT pulls the plug.

You know, when I first saw the title of this thread I thought to myself "Oh god, Country Music Television is jumping on the XTREME chaser bandwagon?". In a way I'm happy to see that it's a canadian knockoff after that first impression.

I just dont get it I mean. I have a couple of sponsors who help me out. But I never did this for the money. I like to get shots for fun. There is just no way that this can be good. I mean did I watch Storm Chasers Yes. Did I enjoy it yes. Not just for the Tornados But I enjoyed Seeing a film maker make his extreme weather movie and I got to see Tim Samaras and His engineering tools he created. This show I will watch to see how it goes but thats about it. But I will give them credit I do like there Chase Truck but I am a gear head as well as a weather nut.

After watching the trailer, I do have to give them credit.... they seem to be quite honest about why they are chasing. Good for them. However, we will see if the "science" and research" ploy comes into the mix down the line if and when money and / or creditability become issues.

Seeing as how in some of the preivews Ive seen they were using footage NOT shot by the 3, I am already turned off...but Ill check it out just because.

I think Shane hinted at this and from what I can tell the show will be about the chasers and not the storms. I really don't have much interest in that anymore. I would be all for something along the lines of Rendez-Vous in Tornado Alley. Heck, having to watch that using subtitles didn't make it any less entertaining for me because it didn't have manufactured drama and was just about the storms and storm chasing. That's the type of show I want to watch.

I highly doubt this will have much success, but I don't know what Canadian audiences want to see so you never know. It sure hasn't been a good year for trying to make a television series though. A few somewhat major events on April 27-28 and June 16-18 and then not too much in between.(May 11 maybe) That has to hurt the chances severely unless they are using stuff from last year as well.

Hear, hear. I'm tired of the "crazy" personalities and the "competition" (is there a prize for storm chasing? :-) ).

But I guess the producers feel that drama sells more than amazing storm footage (like rendezvous).

I'm gonna redo my take on this show tomorrow night. Just wanted to put this here so you can all make sure not to watch.
