Thanks for posting my vid, I was just about to do that. That was by far the best lightning display I've ever seen, even better than all of the tornadic sup's I've seen across the Plains. In case you don't read the summary on the YouTube page, make sure to turn your volume way up, especially you thunder fans. The constant lightning and incredibly loud thunder resonating off the skyscrapers still gives me chills every time I watch it. I guess that's what 8000+ j/kg of CAPE and an EL near 100mb will do for ya!

lol Maggie, great video. I enjoyed the other videos as well and hope to add more from this years chases. I remember alot of storms that I chased or photgraphed from my backyard had some intense thunder and I still only focused on getting the photo. I will be doing plenty of video this year and timelapse as well.

But being the first thunderstorm of the season I turned on the camera and enjoyed the storm to its fullest. It brought some 1/4 inch hail with it and the rolling thunder was awesome. Not much of a CG storm, matter of fact I saw zero Cg's.

I will chase anything with lightning just for the photo and video opportunity. Chasing the severe storms is a huge bonus but I can find just as much excitement with a tiny little storm.

Got my second chance of storms this weekend. Cant wait to see what happens. Wish me luck....

I love a good late night 'thunderboomer'. To leave the windows open a bit, let the cool breeze bring in the rain-cleansed air. It's pure bliss to just lay in bed under that scenario and read a good book until shutting the light off and drifting off to the sounds of the Heavens. Ahhhhhh......

Love thunder, particularly the kind on the Plains that hits you in the chest with a low rumbling tremor - had several of these last year in North Platte as we drove through to get south of a line - CGs I think

If I had to pick my favorite kind of thunder it would be a toss up between the low, rumbly version that just seems to go on forever (what I used to call "ridge rumblers" in TN...it sounded like the thunder would get "stuck" in the valleys and had to find it's way out...except for that one time the "thunder" was an F3 in my back yard ).

My other favorite is that loud, intense explosion that follows the REALLY close CGs and sets off every single car alarm in the neighborhood
