For those that don't have a reliable nowcaster or want an extra layer of security, the Chase Hotline is running again. It is open to the public this year and operates as a pay-as-you-go service. You can sign up for service on the same day you chase.

I have used Tim Vasquez' Chase Hotline for years and have had amazing results. Tim is one of the best if not THE best forecaster that I know. He is an experienced chaser, programer, meteorologist and author of many forecasting books including the famous Storm Chaser Handbook that will soon be released as a second updated edition. He also worked as an Air Force forecaster. Tim targets for the most photogenic, chaseable storms and tornadoes and the forecasts are detailed analysis, not just "go there." He adjusts the target(s) through the day if necessary as conditions change. Even when not chasing, I have been amazed at how often his targets verify. If my own target is different than his, I'll usually go back and recheck my forecast. It is a valuable service for those learning how to forecast and is still a worthwhile service as data has become more available over the years. The Chase Hotline is not a subsitute for good chasing skills. I highly recommend the service as a part of one's chasing tools.

This is just an update -- since it looks like I will be continuing service for some clients into June I have decided to cut the rates by half to give more people a chance to try out the service. So the Chase Hotline has just gotten more affordable as of today, and of course even though it's listed as "VIP" service, anyone can sign up:

The cost-sharing scheme has been eliminated partly due to the rate cut and partly to simplify things. Also I have posted an archive of Chase Hotline forecast messages there for May 10-26
