Surveillance Cameras Rolling During Tornado

Your forecasting skills that good?

I'd say so far the surveillance cameras are far outdoing the chasers, in terms of capturing the best footage....

I think he might have meant "since 30 years ago," approximately the time the F5 struck between here and Boone, IA.

Note to camera installers: Next time mount them to the wall instead of the ceiling tiles, theyll survive a second or two longer!:D:D

Wild footage! Thats the type of footage the hurricane houses set up in S Florida was trying for to catch damage in real time. Hopefully this footage can prove useful somehow.

I corrected my post. Thaks for showing me the typo Dustin. Yes the last tornado this strong to occur in Iowa was 30 years ago.

That ATM video is the most clear, and of the closet proximity, I have ever seen from inside a tornado. This includes the Attica (KS) house footage, the Oklahoma pig farm, and the house in Manchester (SD) being destroyed.

This video will give people involved in tornado research another amazing piece of data to study the ground impact of tornadic winds, especially in a high-end tornado like the one that hit Parkersburg.

video also here...

Just watching this makes me want to go to the basement and live there from now on.

It does provide us with another idea for next gen tornado probes ... time to replace the turtles with a First National ATM machine ... or the entire First National.

Cannot get any better than this

If this has been posted, then please delete this post. But here is new video from the back ATM cam that shows a house getting erased from the planet in the Iowa tornado. You could not put a cam in a better spot to capture that if you tried. This is simply incredible.

2008 is the year of extraordinary video from un-manned cameras. Interesting to say the least.

Insane Parkersburg, IA Tornado Footage

(Apologies if this is posted somewhere & I've missed it)

Just found this(some of you have probably seen this) Apparently this is an ATM security camera in Parkersburg that captures the tornado as it shreds the home across the street. I don’t know too many ATM’s sitting right beside a house like this (small town living, I guess!). Anyway, just roll this with Windows Media Player. About the 11 second mark you see the winds change immediately, turning right into the tornado, which is one giant wedge.

Absolutely incredible. I’ve never seen video this intense or this close before.

Wow. That's incredible! It might even top the security bank video from the same tornado. Notice how right before the house goes you can see power flashes reflecting off the house! Thoughts to those that live in that area.

Oh my God, that's simply incredible. I hope this will be helpful, in the hope that it will serve as a warning to rash chasers, to understand what a tornado can be.

I agree Andrea. The first chaser that ends up in this position will probaly be the last chase of their career. I always wanna get close but this makes my toes curl.

I just saw that house being destroyed on youtube....guess I should have looked here first! Pretty amazing even though its ten days later....

I wish they would've let the scene roll on through until the tornado cleared the area....it would be interesting to see what was left behind once the dust cleared.
