I think that was "reset" when we moved to Stormtrack x2 ... We may have had more before the board change a few weeks ago.

I don't think so. Unless you did more then just move the SQL database, all that data is in the SQL database. So unless you only backed up parts of it, that record should be all-time.

If I remember right, the previous record set on June 4th of this year was still being displayed before this new record was set.

Yeah... If my memory serves me correctly, there was about 126 users online on 6/4/05, which gave us our older record prior to yesterday.

Um, yesterday was higher.

I checked it at one point yesterday and saw 131 online, and the 138 record had just been set less than an hour earlier. Phenominal! It was a cool experience too, as many of the visitor/guests contributed quite constructively. Extra eyes and ears are always welcome during major incidents like this. Opening it up was a good call.

I wish we could do some statistical analysis to find out where they all came from.

Do we have a tracker that sees where we are linked to?

I'd just like to know if many of those visitors previous knew of us as lurkers, or if our url got spread around the Internet yesterday and caused a temporary frenzy of new visitors who had only just learned of us.

Tim once did something like that for the month which listed the IP hosts of all the users.

It looked something like:

304533 aol.com (3.5%)
103042 ou.state.edu (1.7%)
etc.etc.etc.

Rob-In regards to your post...
After hearing the report issued on one of the news channels, CNN or something of the like, I started doing a little research through the NOAA, NWS, LSU, and a few other university centers, etc. to find out what reports they had issued, look at maps, read the discussions, etc. I then started to search some of the Storm Chaser Web Sites, ran across Chris C and weathervine.com. Eventually I found this site. I am located in St. Louis, Missouri. Let me know if you need more information.

Re: Visitors

Thanks! I am thinking that a large number of guests ended up here through such a roundabout search.

It'll be interesting to know how many were long time lurkers who just never registered before. I know a couple of them mentioned that in their posts.

Isn't that what he's saying though?

OK our referrers through midnight yesterday... some of them (like the top one) are high since they hotlink the graphics.

how i found you

just if you are at all interested, a friend and i have always been into "the weather channel" and have always gotten caught up in watching the nor-easters that have a way to paralyzing us during the winters (i love these winter storms that dump 28+ inches on us) not sure how he found this link, but some time ago he sent me this link and i just happened upon your web site there. came back to it yesterday figuring id find some good info on it, never thought id be posting tho. (not usually one to join into something that i really know nothing about) you guys all know alot and dont seem to have a problem with sharing your knowledge with us total amateurs! it was fun and trust me i will be back again...lurking...(you have taught me a few things, im sure i can learn more) :p again, kudos to you all for such a fascinating web site and those who spend their precious time keeping it. THANKS!
(check out the web site below, you may find some interesting stuff there)

last post

you have to scroll to the bottom of the page, you have an old link there that links you to your new site.....forgot about that...had to go back and check for myself as to how i found you

I have been a lurker of this site for about a year because I like to keep track of the weather in Ne and Co where I'm from. Since then, I look daily because I've learned so much and I love weather. I live in Seattle.
