• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

PYKL3 announced on their website Friday that they are ending development on their product due to unnamed new requirements by Google.

From their statement: “Given the magnitude of changes imposed on developers by Google, we have determined that it is not viable to continue development or support of PYKL3Radar.“

More information and their full statement can be found on their website.

Ugh - that's too bad... It was the best radar app and the thing I missed most when moving to iOS.

Well that's unfortunate. Takes a perfectly useful radar product off the market.

AFAIK it'll continue to function until either a future OS update from google kills it or the way NEXRAD data is sent changes. Might be worth downloading the APK from their website for when their website inevitably shuts down.

I absolutely love utilizing the real-time surface obs on Pykl3 and I'm sad to see it kick the bucket. Maybe Radarscope will eventually include surface obs in a future update!

RadarScope is the obvious benefactor from PYKL3 closing up shop. I actually prefer RS as the feature set appeals to me more than PYKL3 did, but I used it for several years on my Android phones and appreciated having an alternative. I bit the bullet last night and bought another RS subscription for my Samsung S8, so I’m covered when PYKL stops functioning.

I really loce this app and it is my favorite app. I am android programmer.
I would like to take over pykl3 project. @Joe Jurecka contact me if you are interested.
Or put the source code of pykl3 on github so me or anyone can keep it alive.

I haven’t heard of My Radar Pro. I’ll have to give it a look/see.

I remember playing with the free version years ago. It seemed ok for what it was at the time, even the free version. I would imagine they've improved it significantly in the intervening years and have heard good things in the grapevine.

I haven't been on Android in quite some time, so I never had Pykl3. For me, RS is fine, primarily because I like to keep things as simple as possible on my radar screen and not have other things (surface obs, MDs, etc.) clogging it up. I keep other screens up for those things.

I just went to wX and it is very best app!!! I was able to work on the app and add my own color table and mods.
wX is best replacement for pykl3.

@Joshua Tee I will sent send my own mods later when I am finished.

Also Joshua have wX app for ios. I think it is on his google drive or other links.

I like Radar Scope but also use My Radar Pro since it has detailed road maps.

I have always used Radar Scope and haven’t heard of the app you mention but would like to try it for the road maps. Not sure if I am looking at the right app though, is the full name My Radar NOAA Weather Radar Pro??? You’re talking about an iOS app, correct?

Another one that has detailed road maps is RadarUS+
