Prompt when leaving page with entered text?

I know many sites around the Internet will prompt you if you leave a page where you've previously entered text, such as Facebook. If you try to close a tab there where you've typed in text anywhere, it will prompt.

I've been lucky that it saves a draft when you go back a page, such that you can recover where you left off.
But I've been unlucky that later on I accidentally closed a tab where I was typing.

Would it be easy to implement this prompting, just as one more safety mechanism to prevent useful text from being lost?

Drafts are currently saved here on Stormtrack when posting. I've come back to a post after two hours and the saved content is still there, but it would be unreasonable to think we could save this type of content for much beyond that.
