Well, I didnt want to necessary get involved in this, but I mentioned it to my friend who does work for Channel 5, and he told me to post this.

My friend toldme that they ran some video that came from "him" on Sunday from the Aspermont, TX tornado. Also, he is referred to Fast Unit 63 when out in the field for the station.

P.S. I want to add here, That I'm not bashing the guy just yet. I know there are several that have already tried and hung the man, but we've yet to see him post in his defense (even if he's willing to try with all that would be heaped on him here). I'm attempting to try a little first hand knowledge and find someone that knows him or about him. I will concede that "someone" has done some serious copyright infringement here. Whether or not it's Billy, has yet to be seen. By our very law system that several are planning to take advantage of, is based upon a man being innocent until proven guily. Put away your ropes and knives until you know something for sure. Once you know, then act upon that knowledge.

No mention of his music? Now that is downright weird for a guy that claims to be a working musician, trust me on this. Musicians always try and promote themselves.

What gets me is that I've read many of his posts and he always seemed a pretty normal guy. Although knowing what we now know if you go back and read stuff like:

Yes, the sensor was calibrated per the local AWOS.

Not sure if everyone else experienced the \"subwoofer sound pressure\" vibration, but as we were underneath the rotation and it began tightening, we all heard and felt the vibration and definitely experienced the ear popping thing. It was if we all could not hear for a brief moment - what a tremendous rush!

you have to wonder if any of that really happened as described.

Why oh why do normally intelligent people do this kind of thing?? Can't they see that the chasing community ALWAYS manages to find out about stuff like photo thievery? We police our own pretty damn well, I think.

What you really need is a screenshot. On windows computers, just hit the "Print Screen" button and that puts a snapshot on your clipboard and you can paste it in to any image editing program and save it. Now sure how you do it on the Mac.[/b]

Mozilla and Firefox have a 'Save Page As...' feature; I'm pretty sure it's platform independent. Be sure to specify 'Save Web Page' > 'Web Page, Complete.'
Use of a similar feature is likely how he snagged Warren's gallery layout.

This whole issue is almost beyone belief. Assuming his site hasn't been hacked/sabatoged, or that some other bizzare misunderstanding isn't taking place, WTF is/was he thinking? :roll:

They should really hire some of you guys to work at the FBI. You do good background checks and thorough investigation. I think you should be asking yourselves what you don't know about the guy yet lol.

It was wrong and those that got ripped off should handle this personally, but this is turning into a firestorm.

EDIT apparently a technically adept friend of mine said the following:

"If you do not want your pictures stolen by Bill Griffin, you can make a file called .htaccess and upload it to your /public_html/ folder with the following text at the top:"

order deny,allow
deny from <billy griffin's ip address>

You guys have done good so far, you should be able to find that. 8)

Wow, this is quite the explosive discussion. I happen to agree with Gabe though. I agree that what was done is really really poor taste, but I'm not sure that finding every single detail on Billy's life is going to solve anything.

And for those of you wanting an apology, I doubt you'll get one. Billy probably will never post anything of the sort, IF he posts ever again on ST. I hope I'm wrong though.

My chase partners and I were waiting for you guys to start slamming me for being out chasing - you can't miss my vehicle.

But STEALING someone's photograph and putting it on public website, especially affiliated with my record company, is not something I'd ever do and I'm sorry to tell you guys, but these were all taken by me on different chases.

I have the original photos all saved on hard disk from my digital cameras so I'm sorry for your accusations, but this is not true.

I've been chasing all year long, and been beside just about everyone at one time or another. David D. - if you'll look at your video of the lightning flash, that's my red Explorer right in front of you. We had the same photos and video, but that's not even on there.

This all stems from many posts ago, and it's a shame you guys just can't leave someone alone. Enough said. Call S. Carano, call Rick Mitchell, call whomever, I have nothing to hide.

Good grief. If you guys don't remember my red Explorer with the dish there on all these chases, don't know what else I can do. I'm tired of all the bashing and accusations. Please just leave me alone.

What BG done is horrific, and absolutely against the law, and he hopefully will have to compensate those he stole from, BUT.......this has turned into a witch hunt now. Ya'll know what he done, and ya'll know who was stolen from. Starting to analyze his sanity, tracking his registrations, etc, is a little ridiculous. There are a LOT more important things out there to do than waste your energy on Billy Griffin. To those of you who were ripped off...I'd be TOTALLY pissed, and I WOULD get even with him. But to those of you who seem to just want to add fuel to the fire....why? Apparantly he is a pathological liar. So now.....get an attorney, save the print screens, and request his website be terminated, and inform Channel 5 that THEY may be liable IF they used his stolen footage. Enough already.
