Clear air for Dryline

I disagree... It's GREAT for picking up boundaries - some of which would initiate convection later on.

I remember when I went to the NWS offices in the morning to ask politely for charts to do my forecasts, that some the guys at AMA NWS loved clear air mode for finding the dryline. They showed me a couple of times.
 
Yeah, drylines, ob's, warm/cold fronts are sometimes very apparent in clear air mode. Clear air mode is good for picking up snow, especially when it's a dry snow.
 
Has there ever been any talks of adding radar sites where there are currently holes? Is there not enough funding? Not enough of a need? I don't recall reading anything about it.

Sort of. Studies were done about a decade ago, EVV got a radar out of it, Erie PA needed one but didn't, and I think part of Mizzou was in that study too and came up dry.
