Hello everyone, my name is Scott and I live in Olathe, Kansas. My interest in weather was sparked by wanting to know what to look for in the sky during a severe weather event. I wanted to have some type of "foreknowledge" of an impending severe storm other than just looking at the "big puffy" clouds. The more that I learned, the more interested I became. I have found it very interesting to learn about. I would like to storm chase sometime, at least locally anyway, since I don't have too many free days during the week. I enjoy the experienced chasers reports and discussions. Knowledge is good.

Hi everybody!

At first, my English is very bad, i have never learned in School. I understand much, but with write i has large trouble. But a good training for me, is to be written here in english. I hope you understand me and give me some credit. Thanks.


My Names is Gregory. I am 35 years old, was born in Aarau, Switzerland and live there.
With stormchasing i began before 5 years. The thunderstorms fascinated me and it is my passion, this to photograph it. Each Spring and Summer are we much on the way, if it in the sky becomes dark.
The thunderstorms in Switzerland are not usually as strong as yours and Tornadoes are very rare. Some supercells per year are however possible - if we have luck!
I support also a Swiss Storm Forum, call www.meteoradar.ch/forum and i are a member with Skywarn Switzerland. It's good to meet people with the same interest and i hope i can show you nice pictures of thunderstorms somtimes, from the small Country.

Hello everyone!
It's really nice to meet all of you!
I know it probably doesn't matter, but I'll give you all the info one me..
My name is Jon, I'm 20 years old, currently going to school in a small christian college in NW Iowa for Physics. I have hopes of continuing my learning at some type of grad school for atmospheric research and or meteorology..Since my school doesn't offer a meteorology major, I try to spend every summer doing some kind of weather related work.
Last summer I stayed on campus and did research under a NASA grant by taking data from the Aura satellite and UKMO weather data to look at stratospheric sudden warming events from 1992 to 2007 as well as the seasonal spinup of the polar vortex..
The grant has been extended another year, so I have my job lined up once again ths summer. We will look at the current major warming that is occuring in the arctic, as well as looking at anomaly's in modeling of the polar vortex..

In addition to my studies and research, I'm trying to learn how to be a storm chaser. This winter and last summer I spent absorbent amounts of time reading up on chasing information and weather forecasting. I have started an unofficial club on my campus for anyone interested in storm chasing/watching...if anyone in NW Iowa would be willing/interested in this, again private message me!

It's really nice to meet all of you and I look forward to talking up some great weather events this spring and for years to come!!

Misti, nice to see another Arkansan on the board (born in Pine Bluff, raised in Greenwood and Cabot). Your neck of the woods is pretty decent chase terrain. I have yet to score a tube in Eastern AR, but it's a long-time goal of mine.

Hello all!

My name (obviously) is Steve. I don't get to chase since I live in East Tennessee, where it would be suicide even if I knew what I was doing....

Steve, I actually chased around and east of Chattanooga, TN once in 2006. It's a long story, and I'm long-winded, so I'll save the details. The mountainous areas are pretty rough, but TN has some decent chase terrain further west. And large outbreaks seem to occur with some frequency across the state and into KY in early to mid-spring. You might venture westward and chase cells back toward your home on occasion. With some built-up confidence and a little luck, who knows what mother nature might deliver one day
