Matt Hughes passes away

I was not able to get online for a couple days due to my work schedule this weekend but I sign on today and seen this. I never had the opportunity to meet Matt and only knew of him and some of his work.

My prayers and condolences go out to his loved ones in this time of hardship.

I was very sorry to hear about Matt's death. I didn't know him, but it's obvious from the stories and photos that he loved chasing and inspired the love and loyalty of his friends.

When Eric passed, the photos of him from Stormtrackers was a real source of comfort to his friends and family. Chasers take a lot of pictures, often of each other. You may have pics of Matt and not realize it, if you were around their crew the last few years. Posting those is about the best thing you could do for the people around Matt, if you don't know them too well. If you do know them, call. Don't be afraid to talk about Matt with them, or even about what happened. Anything you say can only show care and kindness and make them feel better. It's not possible to "say something wrong" at this point.

So sorry to learn of this. I did not meet Matt but we share a common interest and passion. I agree with Amos it would mean a lot to his family to hear stories or see pictures of Matt doing what he enjoyed. My thoughts and prayers with his family and friends during this difficult time.

I met him in Denver as well at his booth. We chatted briefly, very nice guy.

I never got the chance to meet Matt but was a great guy and from what I have seen and read, he had great a love and passion for chasing and weather.

I know people that do suffer from depression and it is very hard on the person. You have to be a good friend to them as they can use anyone and everyone to get through it.

Terrible, terrible news. I didn't know him in person, but I did hear of his admired work in chasing community and watching him several times on Discovery.

I just saw this today.... I don'k know Matt, but it says "depression" was the resaon.... I'm getting older and the more I learn about life, the more I realize that depression is very common. It's not well understood, but I've lost friends from this also.... Anyone sufferring depression should see a doctor immediately. It's a terrible thing.
