must be people are concerned with losing there membership, but If I remember correctly didn't Tim say that little one liners won't save your membership.
I think that a time has come where something like this had to be done not a few hours go by where I don't see someone new trying to get membership who cannot even follow the first basic rule of using your real name.
I don't have much to rave about on this, as I normally never do, but I was also concerned at first of loosing my account, but now I know by reading this thread that I should be good.

Is the management aware that guests cannot view attachments anywhere on this forum?
That was part of my rationale for registering.

This was also part of my reasoning for joining. I was lurking as a non-member for several weeks before applying for membership. There were maps and pictures that were being shown and referenced that I was unable to see.

Someone a few posts back asked me to elaborate on our procedures. To do so here would be a thread hijack, but suffice to say that we use LEO and VFD as spotters because their vehicles are paid for and insured by the county. Hail dents in a fire truck are not as big a problem as hail dents in a pritave vehicle.

Tim already has his mind made up and has made a descision so I do not see a point for this poll besides to add more discusion to a topic already discused more than it needs to be. I think everyone made clear what they wanted in the other thread and that is for people to participate more and be more active. There is nothing else to say that has not already been discussed.

I ment no offence to you Jason so please take none. I am just tired of this discusion. To those who are worried about losing you're account well you have 2-3 weeks to get out of the single digits. You can go back to lurking after you participate a little. It is that or you lose you're account.

Ps. There is plenty of other weather forums you guys can lurk at if that is what you want to do.

This post is strictly to myself. I'd like myself to stop posting in this thread, like I am doing now. There have been enough posts here, including this one here I'm adding. Just making sure this is clear, here, where by making it such, makes things worse. I will probably post a follow up one to state again, thanks to this one here I'm posting now.

I personally do not post that much just because I like reading the content and having the opportunity to present my opinion. I'd rather not see my opinions and read myself type and hear all the opinions that many different chasers have to offer. This is also a great resource to see other people's web sites and see discussion hard to find elsewhere.

Well I didn't mean in this thread. Open up a new thread, discuss them, and others will follow! We could compare and contrast all over the country, could be an interesting discussion. I was just floating out some ideas, where members with lower post amounts could contribute and share stuff that the rest of us may not know.

How would these veterans not be weeded out? There are a lot of excellent chasers on this forum that not a lot of people have even heard of because apparently they haven't done their 'part' on Stormtrack. At the same time there are some that haven't done their 'part' and still will be allowed to be a member because of their recognizable name.

Just because someone posts 1000 times on a forum doesn't mean they have contributed more to a forum than someone who has posted 250 times. I would be willing to bet that if you sifted through the person with 1000 posts, most of the time you will find that they have as many quality posts as the person with 250, because the person with 250 only posted when something really captured their attention and had something to contribute and didn't just throw some BS out there at every opportunity.

Maybe these unknowns just don't want to post because of the lack of quality threads that they feel the need to contribute to on the forum as a whole.

This post wasn't overlooked, Brunin. I couldn't have said it any better.

Look, I'll contribute when I feel compelled to by the subject matter, or if I feel the need to share something. I also, like many others I'm sure, increase my Stormtrack time during peak chasing season. I do have other likes and hobbies that pull at my attention. I'm certainly not going to go around asking for a voucher from someone to keep my membership. I do like to join in on the interaction when something does peak my interest.

I'm sure there will be some obvious process to it, and then some grey areas. If I'm in the grey, then so be it, I guess.

Hey, we can enter ST into the Guinness book of world records for the most times the same point (on both sides) has been repeated in a thread. There's two distinct opinions here, we've established that.

We're already in there! I picked up my copy at Barnes & Noble.

Agreed. I may not fully agree with Tim's descision but his mind is made up so no need to discuss this any longer. I say just let it be and let it go.

that's fine by me

I finally looked at what has been said about this thread.

Tim must be doing this for some reason to make the forum a fitter place . I know that some people are shy and maybe don't like to post but there are so many things to say, speak about, post etc.

Those who don't register miss out on the Chaser Bar and Grill section which has some interesting things , polls and more

If you like the forum, people should contribute , help , donate money and time and more .

Its a great forum and subscribing is a good thing.

This is official notice that on October 1 we will be pruning out dead accounts, lurkers, and all spam zombie accounts that have slipped through over the years. Accounts will be autodeleted for those who have an extremely low post count total (zero or very close to zero) and have been here at least 1-2 months.

Individuals will also be removed if short one-liners are posted just to evade the deletion, or if all posts are in Bar & Grill.

If you consider yourself a lurker, you will still be able to view the weather discussions even as an unregistered guest, so in practice this will not affect you and there is nothing you need to do. However we are a community based forum and our goal is to share meaningful information about severe weather, so participating is what we expect in return for having an account here.

This will not be done before October 1 so if you haven't posted, there's no rush until then. If you're a newbie, the educational forum is a good place to begin.

Thanks,

Tim

Threads, they can be damn tricky to let go of! Sort of like putting cookie dough down.

(nevermind my previous post, lol....I never even knew there was a poll thread for the lurkers, and thought the comment I put in there was deleted from this one.....and was like, why the hell was that deleted......thread titles are a hair similar)

I think this is my first or second post, and I can say right now that I probably won't make many more prior to October 1, so put me in the list of people probably looking at getting their accounts removed.

I just found this forum around April/May of this year, it was pretty interesting. The first major outbreak of the year was mentioned a week in advance on Mike's site and I did some searching to figure out where he may be getting that information...I lurked for pretty much the entire midwest season, then joined up just as it was pretty much dead, done.

I don't have a whole lot of time or energy to devote to learning more about storm chasing now, but come next Spring/early Summer, I think that will change and I'll put my membership to use getting my feet wet. I guess the only thing I ask is if I get removed now, can I re-enlist under the same name in a few more months?

Sam
