Unfortunately, since I live in Southern California, there's very little to talk about or report—save for the occasional Spring or Winter storm. And it seems each time I've had something to report or discuss in the last few years, I've found my account's been dropped.

Despite the fact that we rarely have exciting weather, what happens here is quite different from what you typically see in the Midwest, but it's unique in its own way. Severe weather here is often short-lived and wildly unpredictable.

I will certainly make an effort to post comments or questions on a regular basis from now on so that I won't miss out on the opportunity to post a video or photo gallery link due to a canceled account. It's happened a couple times in the last few years. Wall clouds, funnel clouds, a low-topped anti-cyclonic rotating supercell. And no one to share them with, due to a dead account.

You don't necessarily have to post weather-related things though, there are tons of other non-weather related topics that you and others can participate in.

I guess I am not taking my advice and letting this go.

What is the point of asking people with low post counts to contribute if nobody is going to reply to the threads they start or the posts they post and start some good discusion? A example is the NC thread started yesterday. I am sure enough people has seen it for some good discusion. Only 1 person replied with serious discusion and the other 3 were just joking around. Come on people do what you tell them to do and contribute a little of you're own. It is annoying to see some people trying to contribute more and their threads/posts go unoticed for the most part. If you guys want these lurkers to contribute then help them out by getting involved with discusion with them when they do or this whole arguement about contributing to keep you're membership will have been a waste of time. Nobody is going to want to contribute if nobody else cares about what they have to say.

Sorry for the rant but I wanted to get that off my chest. If you expect people with low post counts to contribute more, than you in return should show interest so they will continue to contribute more. I have nothing more to say on this topic and will not respond to any reply's to this post so do not expect a response.

I post on topics that interest me, period. Also, I rarely start threads.

How convenient. Poke the snake with a stick one more time and then run away when it hisses.

Seems to me the issue here is simply personalities. The more outgoing, "alpha" types are gonna have something to say about a lot of stuff, while the introverted shy folk are gonna stand in the corner and just watch. And then there's everyone in between. I'm not asking people who rarely (if ever) post to start posting for the sake of posting, that's just dumb IMO. I'm just asking why you're all so upset that your ability to post will be taken away?

Is that all this is really about, just having the ability? Kinda like how a single guy with no interest in starting a family still wants the ability to procreate.

Maybe I should have my account deleted for having probably posted more on this thread about not posting than anybody else?

Well I guess I'll chime in too. I have an extremely low post count, and I agree with the sentiment that "If it's time to go, It's time to go." I like to keep a low signal to noise ratio, and I am on this site so much that I honestly didn't realize I hadn't posted more.It seems like a lot of my questions get answered without me having to chime in. I originally joined when you had to send in an essay. The reason I joined was the ability, as others have mentioned, To view attachments and, feel like if I had a question or info I felt I wanted to ask or share, that opportunity was available to me. This is one of like 3 forums I belong to, and I now realize that I need to be more involved. I hope I can stick around, But whatever Tim decides...

I'm confused. You reference one specific post, which seems a silly "argument" here. Everyone needs to post in ALL threads?

The specific thread was bumped by the starter of it, only 5 hours after they started it. Probably not going to encourage a ton of replies doing that, especially it being the very first post by the person since being on here.

I guess I better start posting more! I go into periods where I dont post much but mainly just read. I still read alot of what goes on daily.

It also seems during bouts of inactivity in the weather I find myself posting less. So I guess I am saying dont get rid of me. I will send you Tim a PM or seek out a moderator.

Here are a few threads with no responses if anyone wants to add some discusion so the thread owners do not feel posting these threads or contributing was a waste of time. I doubt they feel that way but this might generate some activity for their threads which is inactive.

I looked at them all...I don't possess the answers. Seems that's usually the case when I don't post a reply to a question (if you look at my post count).

While we're on the subject Matthew, why didn't you reply to my question about the NHC site not working a few days ago???

I don't remember seeing the thread and I am not very smart so I would not have a clue as to why the NHC site would not be working. I was not refering to you or anyone in particular but more towards people with low post counts who could or wanted to contribute more. I thought it would get a few people to reply to those threads. I do see you're point and respect you're oppiniun on this.

I stop by to check up on favorite chasers, read good threads, explore new info etc. I am not sure I have ever posted. I lurk to learn. I wouldn't even think of posting since I know few of you and nothing of what you all know, but I don't want to be deleted because I am shy or have nothing to add. C'mon, Tim. Don't delete me.

I agree totally. It doesn't take THAT much to participate in the forum. Surely with as many subjects that come up, even out of the Bar and Grill, there is something for everyone to participate in....especially during the winter when all we are doing is praying for spring to roll around again. I don't think Tim is asking anyone to naw off their foot to keep their membership.

when i saw this thread i started getting scared and ill tell you, i got worried for a number of reasons...i havent posted in the last few weeks or so, and when i do post...i worry that i dont meet the standards of a bonafide "ST" member...my grammar isnt very strong and im not up to par with all these professionals...you can see by my post count and join date that ive been here for a while, and i strongly value my ST membership...

another reason im scared is because of the steady hate-base who wants to see me leave...im worried that because i havent posted in a while, that these individuals are going to have a reason to oust me...some of the stuff ive typed up here historically maybe i shouldent have typed...some times i put my personal opionions or said some condescending things that didnt belong here...ive made a couple mistakes, and i feel that now with this new law in effect that those individuals now will be able to convince the administrators to remove me...

ill try my best to participate more...i dont have a problem posting, infact i enjoy coming to the forum...i just dont want to post some bull up here, and get in the way of peoples discussion...im damn good, but im not on the level with some of the people who are on here, im not "textbook" and i feel that this law is moving this forum towards the "textbook" removing anyone else who doesnt fit in, similar to the nuremburg acts or jim crow laws...

i guess its damned if you do-damned if you dont...all i can do is pray they dont get rid of me, and if they do decide that i dont belong on ST, then that will be the day i decide that i dont belong on ST either...it might just be that im paranoid, but i just worry about it cause i aint in control...i could see logging in one day only to find out that i no longer have an account, which ive possessed for several years...
