Well I guess I do. Look editing does not mean you have to change the data at all, you understand that? You have to edit it to be able to interpt it msot of the time.

Then how does it go form the NAM or GFS to the nice looking colorful graphics you see on tv? It has to be made into a format the viewer can understand. That is editing even if the data is still the same. It is like when you edit a photo by changing it's size or adjsuting the colors.

When you change the colors in the photo you are changing the photo its self to meet what your eyes want to see. Just as if you change the parameters in the models to show a forecast you want to see.

When generating a forecast graphic based off what the models show and doing so with out changing what the models are telling means you are TRANSLATING the information into a format that one who is not well educated on the science can understand. That translation is still based off the knowledge of the interpreter (or in this case the meteorologist) of the information. The graphic may be edited but the models them selves are not. Even then edited is not the proper word. It is more accurate to say the graphics you see on tv are created or generated based off the model data. To say that something is edited means it has been changed and that would be a false statement to what you are trying to mean.

This part of the discussion morphed out of the realm of the original post title (and the forum section) and fell into more of a Bar and Grill type discussion as it began to touch of policy and politics.

If you are going to delete the response, you should delete the accusation that prompted the response.

Yeah I found that out too. Well I hope this winter ends up being cold and snowy like they say it might. However I do not want too much snow and it to be too cold.

No offense, but i don't listen to Accuweather aroud winter time. call it a Plains thing if you want. But it just seems that if a storm that drops a foot of snow somewhere in the plains happen, accuweather mentions it once, maybe twice. If the same storm dumps the same amount over somewhere in the Ohio Valley or Northeast, all hell is going to break lose, and storm of the year threads start up. It just gets very dramatic over there when a snowstorm hits. So, living in Omaha, i just don't care what Accuweather has to say when winter comes around.

It seemed last year NWS got the local right rather than Accuweather and Bastardi anyway. But, in my eyes, Bastardi could care less if he gets the forecast right west of the Mississippi River, most of his subscribers are in the Northeast anyway.

Personally i don't look to an accurate winter forecast until about mid October, maybe September like i did last year when something told me Omaha was going to get snow a little bit earlier in 2009-2010. So I will put my two cents in about the upcoming winter when the thermostat dips below 50 degrees out here.

I don't blame you. Accuweather does not issue the offical forcasts or warnings so they are just another source I go to to get their take on things.
