I am researching internet connection sharing to allow the other laptops in my chase vehicle to access the internet. Is anyone else using this feature?

I know I can add a wireless router, however I am trying to streamline, not add more gear and more radio frequencies within my vehicle.

From my preliminary reviews, I think it will be a pain going from car to hotel, then back to car each day and getting the connection re-established.

Does anyone have any experience with ICS?

I've done this in the passed with some success. I've done it also with my Linux laptop and with my PDA (HTC Touch Pro with Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro).

If you were to use a router, the setup would be easier and you would be protecting your computer should something try to spread itself from someone else's. Granted, you'll always be vulnerable to some degree because you are sharing a network.

As for adding to the RF, if you're using the router, rather than your computer, its really not adding that much to it and will allow for a more managed experience.

I've no experience with Vista, but if you have any hiccups, I can help you find the answer!

Ok, so I am looking at the Cradlepoint CTR-350. I have the UTStarcom UM175. It came with the Y cable to provide "powerboosting" which means it plugs into two USB ports on my laptop. THis setup worked flawlessly last week in IL and MO.

If I plug into the 350, there is only 1 USB therefore I will not be able to use powerboost. Will I be loosing anything?

I can't imagine what 'powerboosting' it'd do, but it's worked just fine for me with an external antenna and my USB727.

You can also try the Kyocera KR-2, it will have multiple USB ports.
From what I saw of Ben's firmware on his, the backend between the devices seemed almost identical. The Kyocera has a higher price tag.

Avoid the KR2, it is now obsolete . Kyocera announced they are not going to be supporting the product anymore . And there will be no new firmware updates for it. Cradlepoint from www.wirelessnwifi.com is the way to go.

dlink router plugged into a power inverter, and then tucked underneath the seat should do the trick.
