• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I also drive a standard. The only time I ever had issue with the laptop was when it was unsecure in the passanger seat. Flopping onto the floorboard was not a pretty site.

No, I have not had any issues in driving a standard during a chase. I have to be a little more judicious in where I mount radios and the like. I have a Jotto desk for the laptop and this seems to help in the vibration issues quite a bit. I also know that while driving I can't use a touchpad mouse so I have a trackball that I use instead. I also try very hard NOT to mess with the computer while driving. This will get me into trouble faster than anything else I know, except maybe messing with the camera.

Well as mentioned by previous writers i use Adhesive velcro on the back but the negative temperatures and not being on a not so smooth surface kinda made it let loose. as for now its just sitting pretty jammed in b/w that metal stabalizer arm and my center counsol. it works well there though, easy access.

I see that most (if not all) of the cars in these pictures have automatic transmissions. My PT Cruiser is a standard, so I guess shifting is just one more thing to think about while chasing. Has anyone had any issues where you miss a gear if you get really distracted, or anything?

My silver 4Runner from 1999 was a standard. More fun to drive, a MAJOR pain in the butt while chasing.

Best to put these guys in a back window to get rid of any glare out the front.

Chase partner

Yeah a stick is a joke to chase in. Never again will I have a stick as a chaser. It is hard enough to talk on the cell phone, shoot video and stills at the same time, and drive, let alone any shifting too.

Do you guys who use a jotto desk or any other instrument in your passenger side worry about what may happen in an unfortunate event that may cause your airbags to deploy? I know you can disable most passenger side airbags in pick-up trucks, but it is very difficult to do in cars and SUVs. I'm thing about installing a jotto desk or jerry rigging a make shift one, but I was just concerned about the airbags.

YES, this would be concern! But like you mention, I can turn it off easily with a key on the dash. It would be very bad to have laptop/camera/mount debris flying around the vehicle if the air bag were to go off. If there was no way to disable it, I would probably mount the laptop in the rear...after all...not suppose to be looking at that while you drive anyways

Charles, nice setup....I can't exactly make out the camcorder mount too well. Care to share how that is mounted to the vehicle? I'm still exploring other options to my current setup.

It is steel bars welded together. It is bent to fit in the car. Two screws in the dash. And two screws in the front panel. It is all welded to the computer mount as well which is bolted to the seat mounts.
