• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

    I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

    For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

    From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

Interesting setup in southern China

Hi there, :)

After days of pouring rain in the past weeks (the wettest year since a 1998) we get now a very strong SW monsoon surge, which brings a nice setup in southern China. Strong LLJ, presence of flow at the above level. The only weakness at the moment is the absence of a trough at the middle levels, with weak too flow. As GPT heights will fall with time, flow will increase also in the middle level.

This situation is going to last for... at least 7 days !! Yesterday I noticed the forming of many almost horizontal updraft, some with horizontal weak rotation in them.

Already got numerous small storms firing up all around the area, especially to the north where the middle atmosphere is moving more. Here the sfc situation:

That monsoon low to my W-NW is forecast to remain there for quite a long time...

Also of interest to note how the winds back during the day. This is usual down here and can lead to very strong SRH:

Simone that's an interesting setup: if I was in the chinese storm prediction center I could issue at least a moderate risk with a 15% of tornadoes :wink:
Last ten days have been so much interesting also in Bengala if I'm not wrong...Very good trend. Let us know what will it be :)

See the cell westmost to the center: the inflow was right to my east. Unbelieavable what I saw, it was heavy raining then suddenly the rain stop, wind veered from SW to north in a second, sky revealed a boiling rotating updraft with intense lightning and backanvil.

To the east (maybe 1000 meters away) a very low scud coming from the north became convective under the base of the updraft, with very strong upward motion. The scud rapidly consolidated in a wall cloud with tail to the north (flow SW aloft) rotating strongly. It did not develop any funnel but I was astonished by the show. Lightning were at the most intensity during the consolidation of the wall, with a continuous intra-cloud rumble and frequent CG to the NE of the updraft base.

And is everything but finish: winds backed well now coming from the east, SSW just above the ground. Very high humidity with dews stable in the 75F. Rumbles from the west.
