Just thought I would throw out the opportunity to show some photos in black and white. I don't often play with black and white photography, but I may have to do it more often. Here are a few of my shots turned b&w. Let's see some of yours. Of course, they don't necessarily have to be storm shots.

Banned for all the dead fish!....oh, sorry wrong thread. Seriously tho, nice shots. I really like the one with the old farm building and the towers. The picture above it has me craving a cinnamon roll.

I love black and white photography. I think it is such a great art form and in some ways there are things that you can express in it that you are unable to in color. Those are some outstanding shots you have there. Bellow are just a few of mine that I thought I would share.

Nice shots you got there Bart! I like the snow covered road scene. That one is pretty cool!

Do you guys actually shoot in B&W or do you change it over in post-production? I generally change in my editor. Can't say I have ever actually shot a photo in B&W.

I change my shots over in a photo editor. Like you, I haven't ever actually shot in black and white.

I tried converting a few city photos over to B&W with PS's utility. It definitely makes some compositions that would be boring in color more interesting.

I have yet to try some of the desaturation techniques ("1950s" -style color) which also should make for some interesting results.

In college I took a photography class where we shot and developed our own B&W film (Ilford). It was actually pretty enjoyable.

I'm always thought black and white photos looked pretty cool. Gives them sort of a rustic look to them.

I've messed around with converting some of my photos to black and white over the years. Here's a few of my favorites.

One of the strong points of black and white is that you can really go nuts with the contrast. A low contrast tornado shot can really come to life when you put it in black and white and blow out the contrast. In color images, the colors get oversaturated making the image garish and difficult to look at. A heavily contrasted black and white tornado always looks very mancing and ominous though.

Yeah I agree. When I was a little kid I had a book about tornadoes, and all of the pictures were in black and white. It sure added a menacing/sinister look to them. They would have been scary in color, but in black and white it gave them an added eerieness.

These were taken using the black and white settings on my Rebel XT on August 10, 2009. Hard times fell upon Cuervo, New Mexico.

I think maybe this thread should be kicked over to Bar & Grilll, there's definitely a lot more potential here than just B&W weather (Or rather, that's the direction its already gone).
