Ice Storm- OK/MO/AR/TX/KY

It 30.9 degrees here, all the precip from yesterday is now frozen - drips on the trees, down the window screens, etc., and am starting to see small icicles from the eaves. Wood burning stove going strong, don't want to scramble later to heat the house lol! Otherwise, just a slick of ice on the porch and sidwalk out here. Word is it will get worse before it gets better, even this far south. Barometric pressure is rising slightly, but with humidity still at 98 %, I am watching the skies! Everything seems to have shut down out here, the construction guys across the lane have all gone home.

The precip/ trail stretching across the country is very impressive.

Still receiving a mix of sleet and snow here in Edmond OK.

But it seems this trough is going to just keep pumping out this streamof moisture until it finally punches through.

Well Some freezeing rian , but mostly sleet today . Wild to hear the wind blow through the ice covered tree's. It seems to just sit over us !

That happened an hour or so ago. The truck in the background used to be parked basically right where the tree fell; if I hadn't moved it last night the back end would likey have been damged. Lost power for about 40 minutes; hopefully that was the big one. Still coming down, still below freezing... we have about 3/4" + freezing rain accumulation on top of an inch of sleet. It's around 3/4" at eye-level, closer to an inch higher up.

Edit: Forgot to mention - that tree is about 3-feet in diameter.

Wow, Heidi, that brings back memories of last year. Glad your power's back on and the truck is ok!
We're back into the sleet here in Norman and from the looks of the radar this round may last for a while. Think I saw a little snow mixed in as well. I really should go measure, but after yesterday, I'm keeping my feet on surfaces where there is traction

Pictures of the last ice "storm" here in North Central Texas - mainly on trees and bushes, roads basically clear.

This time 'round, roads are wet, but clear, some icicles, will be taking more pics. More precip building to west. Who knows what it will look like later? Stay tuned to find out!

All told we ended up with nearly 2.5" of sleet that started at 3:30am and has officially stopped at 5pm
In many places such as at intersections the sleet was above my ankles as evidenced by the pics

We're approaching ice storm criteria in many parts of the Charleston WV area, with 1/4" of ice evident on some power lines and trees. I observed a power flash about 30 minutes ago over South Charleston. Trees are sagging over the roads in the South Hills area, and small twigs and branches are starting to fall. Freezing rain has been in progress since about 11:00AM this morning after a 4 inch snowfall. Surprisingly, most roads are still in good shape. Photos to come later, I'll be out in this the rest of the night! Fun times....

Sleet and snow finally ending here in Tulsa around 6:30 p.m. with a temp of 18 F. Close to 1/2" of ice and sleet measured. Not a lot, but just enough to cause problems. Streets around here are a complete mess, even with the sand and salt mixture which, I've heard, doesn't work well at temps under 20 F. Could have been much worse though, compared to the Dec. '07 storm, this was a cake walk.
