Help

Hey all, although I live in the Midwest and have been through and chased many many blizzards and winter events I'm still not too familiar with the actual forecasting of a blizzard. Can anyone help me out or provide me with some resources to get a better understanding of how blizzards come to fruition. I mainly need help with things on the synoptic scale.
