Hello From Kansas

I am a spotter working on becoming a chaser, and I was born in Kansas. Wouldn't mind moving back there because in Kansas you can see more of the sky than you can in the Oklahoma hills.

I was born in & grew up in Kansas, now I'm in the Dallas area. Really do miss getting out on the Dickinson/Saline/Ottawa county roads with my dad when he was a spotter!

Where have you been the past year and a half? Your site hasn't been updated in ages.

went to school, bought some land and put a house on it. just got through talking to chase partner about updating website. i've got two years of really good chases to throw on it. your in ardmore now huh? we're neighbors!

Read em and weep b!tchas I leave at 9 - 10 am and I'm home no later than 12 am on 90% of me chases.. Oh how lovely it is to be a chaser in Ks. Sucks to be you.. lol

Aaaaarrrrgh and Im a pirate lass!...

Well what do ya know there are other Kansas chasers! :p Did you know I live in Kansas too and I have seen almost every tornado I've ever chased in Kansas with the exception of a few in SD & NE. It's my favorite state. :D I wanna live here forever maybe move back west.

Wow Fred I didn't know you were a pirate lol. ;)

Up and coming S. Central Kansas (Rose Hill/Wichita) chaser here, still doing training and a few more things to purchase. Going to a NWS spotter class on March 10th. Been studying all the Skywarn training I want that cool sticker to be legit! Getting HAM license and equipment in a month or so. I've been doing lightning photographs for years so it's time to step it up a notch or ten.

I'm having a hard time tracking down forums for kansas. Anyone have any links to share?

LOL, I always think about that when I see you "foreigners" in my back yard where you drove 2 days to get there and I am sitting there using less than a quarter tank of gas. Especially if the day didn't pan out like was expected. I think "well at least I didn't drive from IL to get here!"

The foreigners are the easiest to pick out. They're the ones not whining when the two state area of Texas and Oklahoma lacks tornadoes. ;)

Hey Mike I finally got my cell phone I'll PM my phone number to you in a bit. I'm going to relocate my watch areas to the area just south of Derby and play defense for my little neck of the woods. Less severe storms I'll be south east of Rose Hill taking lightning photos as usual. Anyone else in the local area please PM me so we can exchange information for this season.

TIA!

Dory

Hi Scott Currens!

I am not a chaser in Kansas... just a Spotter in WA...

....but I am making the conversion to Kansas chaser soon.

(BTW: this thread gave me well more than just a chuckle. Almost sounds like everyone needs a support group - except noone wants to stop).
