*Greatest research experience in fields of economics and meteorology: investigating macro and microeconomic impacts of tornadoes, quantifying the societal and economic benefits of the Oklahoma Mesonet to agriculture, and investigating nationwide perceptions of weather and climate - gaging the accuracy of perceptions of climate change given political affiliation (bias).

*Research interest currently is in maximizing the effectiveness of societal response to, and preparations for natural hazards in an effort to understand and minimize 'disaster'.

Kim Klockow’s Specialties:

Economic impact analysis for weather events and information.

Ms. Kimberly E. Klockow

Kim Klockow is a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma (OU). Her thesis research is a study of the economic and social impacts of the Oklahoma Mesonet. In addition, she has participated in two OU side projects: (1) a case study of risk perception by OU meteorologists who traveled to the 2007 AMS Annual Meeting through an ice storm, and (2) a study of the relationship between beliefs about climate change and political affiliation. Her double undergraduates degrees, from Purdue University, are in economics and meteorology, and her senior thesis involved a study of the economic impact of tornadoes. (7/08)
