• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

FOR SALE: Storms of 2004 DVD (CHARITY fundraiser)

Thank you for taking the time to look this up and finding the facts. I'll be happy with a burned copy (just a plain DVD). This was an honest mistake, and I don't wish to take $25 from any charity.

I'm very sorry I was so reactive and abraisive in my original reply; you've always been very cool to me and have never crossed me in any way shape or form. No hard feelings.

None taken.

You can have a copy of the first edition any time next week (stop by NSSL), or wait for the second edition a few weeks after that. Just send me a PM with your choice.

We're hoping that the other contributors do the same! Even though the chapter producers all got a complimentary copy, all six agreed to waive their production costs (DV tapes, FedEx charges, etc, which we had intended to reimburse), which ended up a wash for them anyway.

What actually threw our estimate off was that we discovered that COCAMS (who fronted the wholesale cost of the DVDs) did not have sales-tax exempt status, and thus we ended up paying $40 more for the batch (the cost of ~11 DVDs), and we had to make that up somehow in order for folks to keep their $20 per DVD tax writeoff. This will all be detailed online.

Nevertheless, the second edition DVDs will be announced for sale soon. See here for details.

The second edition of the Storms of 2004 is now available. We have begun taking orders again on the website via PayPal:

The second edition includes some improvements from the first, including remixed audio on the May 24 chapter, and the addition of new background music to the May 12 chapter, composed by Dave Lewison and Greg Stumpf. Several other "bugs" were fixed in the second edition.

We made a very sizable donation ($2002.63, or $20.03 per DVD) to the Red Cross and COCAMS from the sale of the first batch of DVDs:

For the second batch, a portion of the proceeds this time to be directed to the Red Cross International Response Fund for the tsunami relief. We hope to sell all 100 DVD of this batch as well. Please spread the word!

Once again:

Storms of 2004 DVDs will be for sale at the following event:

National Severe Weather Workshop
Midwest City OK
Thursday - Saturday, 3-5 March, 2005

Only $25. All profits are donated to charity.

I will be selling them from the COCAMS vendor table during some of the breaks. Or just flag me down at the workshop at any time if you want one.

Get them while supplies last (there are about 35 DVDs remaining). We will not be making more DVDs once the 2005 spring action begins.

We've completed the sale of the second batch of "Storms of 2004 the profits to charity. To date, the following charities received the following amounts:

American Red Cross = $3155.80
Central OK Chapter of the AMS = $1051.94

The Red Cross portion was divided up between the Heart of Oklahoma Chapter, responsible for disaster relief services in Cleveland and McClain counties in Oklahoma (including Moore OK), and the National Disaster Relief Fund. A portion of the second fund was donated by the American Red Cross to the International Red Cross Tsunami Response Fund.

For more information, see:

We'd like to thanks the members of ST that either donated their video and/or efforts to the production, and/or purchased one or more DVDs! The project was a success!
