Fly to chase

Hi Folks, long time lurker, very seldom poster here.

I'm currently sititng at the airport in ATL awaiting my flight to OKC for the FRI/SAT festivities. In college I used to come out the first two weeks in May, but now with a family and job, I can't really afford to spend that kind of time away. This has lead me to fly out once or so a year for the big events. I got to thinking, are there many (any?) of you guys like me who plan to be tentatively gone during May weekends? My vacation requests are hillarious (eg. Please mark me out from mid april through memorial day, though I will probably be gone only a couple days at most.) Thank goodness for credit card points!

Don't feel bad. I live in Michigan's upper peninsula where if you took the entire peninsula combined, you would only have a tornado about once every five years. I flew done to Amarillo on Monday and plan on staying until Sunday. My chase partner had to be down here anyway, so it seemed like a good time to fly down. I know how you feel, because now that I can afford to head down to chase, I still have a wife and four kids who need my time and attention (I need them too). I think there are a lot of us who love chasing, but whether for family, finances, distance of travel or vacation time, can't just camp out in the southern plains for May and June. My advice is just to enjoy very minute of your chasecation. I know plenty of people who would love to chase, but can't for whatever reason

I'd either be flying out and getting a rental (25 next year) or if my car holds up I can make a trip out. Actually I would have made the trip out for yesterday, I was targeting oklahoma city and would have left Tuesday night and just make the storms as they went up and would have been back by 7 or 8 this morning

I'll never forgive my car lol

I fly in from Seattle every year to chase.
This is the 7th year in a row and 8th year total,

I got to see the Lacrosse Regenerating Tornado in 2012, was in OKC for the May 18-20 fun, Denver last season, and Im here for this excitement now.

I have 2 kids and a wife and you never know when your fun will end, enjoy it while it lasts!

I got on the Rozel, KS tornado flying out for the weekend.

I'm a college professor and our schedule runs late so I can't get out until late may. I live in NYC and driving out would cost me a couple days each way, and with limited time I'm flying out to Dallas May 22 (the day after my classes end!) and back on June 1 (in time for our graduation ceremony).

John
