• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Columbus, Nebraska tornado of 1997 or 1998

Thanks ever so much Greg. I know that you & your partner have many videos/DVDs on tornadic storms. But I do have some rare stuff if you would like for me to send to you for your review. Thanks again.

Dave

Stunning video....I watch my copy a lot. It's fantastic stuff and was unbelievable to see how long it took to move past and rope out.
June tornadoes....good stuff.

Maybe "evil" would be a better term? BTW Brian, I reference your web site often for the latest convective developments. Great job. Keep up the great work for us.

Dave

Brian,

Would you know of a source where I may be able to obtain the Columbus tornado? I have searched everywhere w/ no luck. My efforts have been futile. Thanking you in advance.

Thanks Doug. I appreciate it very much. Too bad we really can't hear it due to German translation. But this is what I was looking for. I wonder if that farmer has more of the video than what is on that link? If there is a copy, I'd love to review! Everytime I watch it, I always see something new. Thx again!

Hoping for a miracle

Merry Christmas everyone.

I wanted to try one more time to see if anyone you know or if you would have access to the 1998 Columbus, NE tornado. I thought I might see if there is a chance of a miracle would actually happen. I suppose this would be the time to ask of one so I'm asking now. Willing to trade. I have a small but fairly decent collection of past storms which may be of interest to you. I'm putting together a top 10 collection of my favorites. The Columbus storm is an incredible sight to behold. A destroyer of monsterous size coming to kill you & your family. I can not imagine what it was like to be there. I don't know what I would do. I know I probably would have not moved as it got closer. I'm hoping for a miracle here!

Question. Have you tried to make any contact with the man in the video who I am presuming is the one that made the video?
His name is Andy Olmer and he is talking to his wife Susan in the video. There made be a pretty good chance of locating him or maybe a local TV station that could help you with getting a copy of the video. There are listings for a few people named Olmer that live in Columbus, NE. (Maybe?)

"Susan could you get my pants.........Susan" - Crazy Farmer. This is by far one of the best tornado videos shot by a non-stormchaser. I believe I first saw it shown at the 2002 Chaser Conference in Denver. I have a copy of this video, in its entirety, on VHS, and one of these days I need to convert to DVD. It is a must see for sure!!!

I shall try to contact Mr. Olmer. Seems like he had a run in w/ the IRS a few yrs back. I will attempt to reach him. I guess the closest TV station near Columbus & Leigh would be Grand Island. Thx for the input.

Thanks for your help

Graham,

If I do not have success, I will be running to you. The reason I want this video very much is in the Spring, I have been invited to speak at 2 middle schools & 2 high schools in the Tampa area on chasing. I want the stundents, teachers & guests to see just exactly what we deal w/ when we see a tornado of that magnatude. I'm putting together a "top 10" list & the Columbus tornado is most definatly on that list. Thanks again for you help & have a Merry Christmas.

I happen to have the raw version of this video including another video of this tornado. Just PM me and I can get a dvd out to you.

OMG Jim. The video of the Columbus tornado in its entirety is INCREDIBLE! I've never seen a monster like that...ever. The roar of that tornado would be a sound that I would never forget. Have you ever seen anything like that coming at you? The hail alone could kill you. Also, the footage you had of that developing twister (near Clairmont, TX) right in front of you was unbelievable! What a meso! Do you have a library of DVDs for sale? I'd like to see them if available. Thank you!!!!!
