• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

College of DuPage Storm Chase Wrap Up

Just got back from a 10-day storm chase with the College of DuPage (COD). The chase summary and pictures can be found at: http://www.excelleratordj.com/tornadofest2008.html

Overall it was a decent trip. We just missed the Willmar, MN EF3 tornado on July 11th as we got caught on the north side of the storm due to poor roads and were trying to get back to the southern side when the funnel dropped. On July14th we saw 2 landspout tornadoes in Nebraska, the first of which was visible for almost 10 minutes. The rest of the trip we saw some decent storms, but no more tornadoes.

I'm already looking forward to next year!! :)

Welcome back!

Like the Day 5 sunset, especially with the mammatus!

Laura, you need to make new T-shirts, I recognize the one you are wearing on Day 8!!

Next Year? Why wait? Join me in Arizona in August!

Great pictures Tim! It's a shame you guys didn't have the same luck that Dave and I did in May. ;)

When are you going next year?

HMMM... well if we're going to brag, I don't think anything will ever beat June 23rd last year!! Plus our Trip was pretty darn good.
The full moon lightning TCu and a left mover made for some great storms.
And no... 2008 isn't done yet!

Yeah, the July trips have been more subdued compared to the May trips. Unfortunately for me, I start coaching mid-august, not to mention the wife will only allow one storm chase get-away per year. ;) So I will be anxiously awaiting next year. I'm not sure which COD chase I will be on yet (I have to discuss it with my superintendant), but it will be either trip 3 or 5.

I still have some things to do with this year's trip's stuff: When I get a chance I will have to finish my daily journal, label and archive all the photos, and review/rip all the video, including our encounter with the crazy roads of eastern Wisconsin!

Tim.
