China3d... Videos of a new storm today...

Everything ended up with a spectacular anvil crawler (hope it's written correct) show, with almost 2 hours of lightnings fading softly, broken only by one or two CG nearby every few minutes.

It's a typical "fireworks closure" here in my place, but more common in June than May...

Have you contemplated going out chasing? Would be interesting to see some of these storms.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. :) You might even drum up some Chineese tourism. I don't think many people here (especially me!) had any idea that supercells and China got along with each other.

Awesome stuff as usuall. C'mon, plains! Get your act together! We're getting shown up by eastern China!

Yes, I will for sure, need to arrange some material, but I will. However, I think I will start with typhoons at first, is much easier than t-storms, and here we should have no problem in getting them... with an average of 8 per year in the Soth China Sea. In 2003 already experienced some. This is the outlook for this year:

http://www.hko.gov.hk/wxinfo/season/season.htm
Number of tropical cyclones affecting Hong Kong
10% chance 3 or fewer
70% chance 4 to 6
20% chance 7 or more

The t-storm series with a westerly flow aloft will end soon, maybe in the first 10 days of June, then will start the 100% tropical season, with strong storms, but tropical, so "go up and fall down" Anyway, this storms are capable of very powerful downbursts and incredible gust fronts where they hit, but as far as usually they are slow moving, they tend to concentrate in small areas and die soonafter. Got hit by one last year, the downburst was so violent that include also small hail (hail with positive temperature at 500 hpa.......) and the wind so strong that the rain was sprayed into the windows even they were closed
