• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Chase Case #11

The 700h dryness underlain by the surface juice in the outbreak area seems to me to be a distinctive characteristic. I, too, have good feelings about Cedar Rapids. My in-laws come from northeast Iowa and it's very nice country, Derek. :D

Hey Ted, I am sitting put at Langs Chevrolet in Xenia, Ohio. It is a fine April 3rd day in 1974. Can you pick up an extra melt and meet me at Blacks furniture store around 4:00 or 4:15 pm. I will just be hanging out here and there, and wish that internet was invented, I may also find a it difficult to find a microwave to heat up that sandwich you bring as well. This seems like a pretty good spot. I am going to run over to Blacks Furniture Store off of U.S. 42 for a while, and just hang between both places. The wife wants me to check out bedroom sets. It is always a fun time to chase these pre-Matt era events.

Edit 3:00pm: I just spoke with the local NWS office, and they are saying that some intense action has developed to my SW. I am checking out a 68 Chevelle SS 396 at Langs Chevrolet. I will update the situation within the hour.

I knew it the second I saw the satellite image. I mean, the review of this outbreak by Hoxit and Chappel is the first technical paper I had ever read.

Since this scenario still seems to be underway--or so I gather, judging from the posts by folks who are just getting started--I think, based on painstaking analysis of the chase results, that I'm going to nudge my position from Wichita Falls to just a shade east--to, say, Xenia, Ohio. :)

Vandalia, IL : moisture, wf, nice turning winds w/ height, reposition options, decent chase terrain, approaching upper air maxima, increasing 850 southerlies, all look good in this area.

Well, not having guessed the date or read all the posts, I'll take virtual credit ;) for intercepting the cell that produced the long-track IN tor from near Lafayette, IN to near Warsaw, IN. I would have started in decent position, but would probably have been left in the dust by the time I crossed the IL/IN state line.

Oh, maaan...I just went back to review the charts and try to figure out how I could have been so monumentally misplaced, and I discovered that I totally reversed the read on the relative humidity map. I normally associate blues and purples with lower temps/numbers, and vice-versa with reds and oranges. But I see now that I had it bass-ackwards in this case. The moisture was off to the east, and what I thought was a moisture tongue in Texas was actually an invasion of dry air. Dooooh--time for a self-inflicted dope slap.

I can't take rl credit. I was only 3.5 yrs old. Go ahead and laugh, all you young-uns. Yes I was alive that long ago, but I didn't cut my teeth on tornadoes until I was about 8 or 9 . A nice wedge passed within 5 miles of my Greenwood, AR home at the time as I watched from a bathroom window. I was instantly hooked. I need to look up the date.

I don't think some people realize on here that he already posted the date plus showed the map of every track of the TOR's in the timeframe. Unless I am the one misundestanding something.....

No, Josh you did not misunderstand: probably Niccolò didn't read the final part of the first page..
As regards me, I didn't remember this was April 3 74' case, anyway I was glad to point out, that if I had chased that day with these maps, I probably would have started from Paducah, a nice spot to start up!(consideration made before I saw the tornadoes report). That's all ;)

That said, I wait for a new case, c'mon!

DOH!

Andrea I've just watched the last post of the first page... 1974:eek:

I need more experience and I would like to learn much more possible!:)

I was actually born 4 months after the event. So, I guess I am a Super Outbreak Baby, LOL.

I actually knew it the moment I got a look at the visible pic. . .
