BLIZZARD REPORTS 12/08-09/2009

I have no account for this other than on my facebook since I am not a huge fan of blizzards.. But, it is extreme weather and I felt the need to go out and get some practice with the dslr before spring hits, I need it. Here in Grimes we got somewhere near 15 inches of the white stuff. That combined with the wind made it a very interesting day! Drifts anywhere from 1'-6' are everywhere, and there are cars littering the ditches. The 2 pic of the drift is right in front of my house, it was roughly 4.5' high! Did some driving around the Des Moines Metro and happened to see Mike Seidel recording live less than a mile from my house. It is crazy cold out there tonight!

I have a few pictures on my site (linked in my signature). They are just pictures from around my home which is in town so the pictures don't necessarily represent how bad the storm really was - especially out in the country. We received roughly 8-10 inches from the storm.

Even though we got most of our snow on Tuesday evening, Wednesday afternoon seemed to be the worst combination of wind and snow causing the lowest visibilities of the storm. Took a few shots around the Northern Illinois Univ. campus here yesterday.

That flag is stiff, and all those flakes are moving parallel to the ground.
