Apple iPad

I took the plunge and waited in line this morning to get the iPad. I have not had an iPhone and this device is not perfect but it will push the tablet market forward. Great screen. Very useable. This is not the 3G version but I can see where this could have role in the chasers field kit. Not the first device to put in it but it does have a role.

I too took the plunge and picked up an iPad. I think the device fills a really nice nich between my laptops and my iPhone. So far I am very impressed with the device. Typing on it is much easier than I thought it would be, about a million times better than an iPhone. I am actually typing this post on it right now. The one thing I will say about the device is it is very very fast.

If I get some time tomorrow I am going to do a video review of the weather sites I use as well as some of the iPad weather apps as well.

Anyone try RadarScope on an iPad yet?

Yes and it works fine. It is much snappier than on my iPhone. The only downside is the pixel doubling the iPad uses to run iPhone apps. It isn't the greatest to look at. I am pretty sure they will need to port it to the iPad for it to look great. I will include radarscope in my video review.

Can you post a screenshot of Radarscope on the iPad? I think it is the same as the iPhone: press home and sleep button at the same time and it saves a screenshot to the photoroll. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I'm not a huge iPad fan, I'd think that someone could make a LOT of money developing a really good iPad radar app. Running GR3 on an iPad would be pretty ideal, and chasers are already conditioned to paying good money for good radar applications.

What I'm excited about is that if someone develops apps for the iPad, they'e basically already doing so for the Mac OS as well... And then I can dump this infernal Windows once and for all!

RadarScope 1.5 is now available.

RadarScope 1.5 is now available in the App Store. This version is a universal app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. In addition to full screen support for the iPad, it includes support for the new higher resolution level III reflectivity and velocity products, Spotter Network locations on the map, automatic radar selection based on your location, radar favorites, and integrated radar status.

Many thanks to all of you who have purchased RadarScope and recommended it to others.

It's a universal app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Free update for existing customers.

Thanks for updating the app and making it universal. The app is way better on the iPad. Very fast and the resolution is great. My only suggestion is to look at the way pinch zoom is implemented. It zooms to the center of the display as opposed to zooming on the area that is pinched. You then have to pan to get to where you want to go. Other than that the app is excellent.

We're aware of the pinch issue and will work on a fix.

Thanks,
Mike
