• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Last season my Delorme USB GPS puck started acting up. There's a break in the cable that's keeping it from locking on. Anyways I am hoping to get something newer that works with windows 7 and GPSgate.

Suggestions?

Thanks guys I think that GlobalSat BU-353 will fit the bill and the amazon link is a few pennies cheaper with free shipping.

The Windows 7 compatibility could be an issue. A user just very recently enquired about the availability of an update for the serial emulator for LT-40, but DeLorme's response was: "There are no plans to update the emulator to work with Windows 7 (Vista) or any 64 bit system."

I always by last years Microsoft Streets and trips with GPS locator.
Steve, just in case you don't know (but I'm sure you do know), unless your existing USB GPS receiver is broken, there is no need to buy the software/hardware bundle each year ;). Older hardware is compatible with newer software, so all that's really needed to be bought is the (inexpensive) software-only version of Streets & Trips (w/out GPS).

I just bought another GlobalSat BU-353 waterproof magnetic USB puck for something I'm working on. I can't vouch for Windows 7 compatibility, but it's straight up-and-down NMEA and runs fine with Linux and Vista, so I don't think that should be a problem.
GlobalSat hasn't yet posted Windows 7 drivers, but the Windows Vista drivers do work just fine for Windows 7. They've been used by users running 32-bit Win7 and also 64-bit Win7.

I think that GlobalSat BU-353 will fit the bill
Excellent choice.
