Great review, Scott! I ordered mine yesterday morning at 2:30am. The web page was just being updated with it and it probably took me longer to order online than it took you in the store. The first email confirmation of my order said it would be shipped according to availability. I was really disseminated because this could mean weeks. Luckily it did get shipped and should arrive today via FEDEX. I had an old blackberry storm before and didn't have any good apps on there, so I will be installing all new apps.
I had the Storm before, now the Thunderbolt. What's next? The hailstone? Maybe the Tornado?
If you end up leaning toward the iPhone, you might consider waiting to see if the iPhone 5 is going to have LTE compatibility. If it does, then I'd suggest waiting for it. Trust me, it'll be worth it! Like Charles mentioned above, I'm just absolutely shocked at how fast LTE is. It is just as fast, if not faster than my broadband connection at home. I'm truly speechless over it...Thanks for the input Scott (great informative writeup) and Charles. About to leap to a smartphone this weekend, and heavily considering this vs. the iPhone for VZW. Really like the iPhone interface, but the Bolt sure is tempting!
Thanks for taking the time to post that review Scott, it's reassuring reading a review written by someone you know rather than a magazine who is also getting ad revenue for the same device!
I "magically" became eligible for an early upgrade in the past few days, so I bit the bullet on the TB today. I only went to the store to get my hands on it, but I came home to purchase it online since it is listed at $50 cheaper on my account upgrade. Couple that with a discount code that took another $20 off, free 2-day shipping, and I can live with not having it in my hands today! It was between this and the Bionic, but I've not seen anything that makes the Bionic worth waiting for given the potential step up in unlimited data prices. We shall see...
That's down....my interest is the comparison of up speeds....cause uploading is where the money comes from.Unfortunately, we don't yet Sprint's 3G is pretty solid though. I usually get 1-1.5 MBps, which is enough for GR3 and the other apps I use on the phone.
