• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

An Appeal for Civility

why don't we suggest that the Storm Chaser convention folks setup one of those inflatable sumo rings with suits and we can vote on who the fight cards should be. I'd pay money to watch that.

I would've slapped him for that but I'd probably get screamed at if I did..

Slap me, ban me, I don't care. I was just telling Lanny what I thought about him. Blame my Mom and Dad for me being blunt and to the point. Hey, that sounds like Lanny right there!

Some of you younger, very thin-skinned folks would have never survived online BBS's and forums 15-20 years ago. It was not uncommon at all to have to build up time and credit before you could access certain areas and it was common knowledge that you never participated in a online forum/discussion/USENET without lurking for a little while. How times have changed. :-)

I once saw the Oracle crawl through a 2400bps modem and EAT a newbie.

I read your blog Lanny and I feel you are taking this way to far. Some of the people who were banned deserved it. Hate me for saying that if you want. I don't care. Some of these people have done nothing but hate me and call me abusive names (including retard) for years now on storm track just because they hate anyone who disagrees with them. A member was being made fun of years back and I told them they were not being very nice. Ever since then they have hated me and even started a storm track group on here about me.

They are hostile people. These people have been in almost every single heated thread at ST and usually go way to far with their posts. This is not the first time they have acted this way. They know the rules. If they can't or refuse to follow the rules they need to take responsibility for their actions. I know people who were members of this site and left because of these people I am referring to. These people started another site because they don't like this site and started a list of people they hate over there. They even made fun of me in their chat room. Don't defend these people. Storm track does not need them.

I am a pretty nice guy and I have tried hard to get along with these people but nothing I do or say works. These people are impossible to get along with.

I am not including your friend and I have no problem with him. I don't know why he was banned. I just assumed From your rant you were defending everyone who was banned.

Forgive me for saying - but is this crisis really a huge problem? Maybe I'm missing something, but if my memory is correct, a thread like the one in question breaks out once, maybe twice, a year on average.

A rational post, hence I do not expect anyone to notice or quote it. Except me. Because I am in fact rational.

Carry on, irrational folk.

EDIT: I see Jeff Snyder is also rational.

People hate on you because you don't chase and you try to act like the all holy policeman. Its you "enthusiasts" who haven't earned any respect from the community yet feel the need to always chime in when there's a heated debate that pisses people off.

I get involved when flaming and name calling starts. I don't care if that bothers you. If you are ok with members acting that way fine but I am not. I am tired of people defending them when they are some of the meanest hostile members of storm track. They have been acting this way for years.

From here on out I will just report the thread and not say anything at all.

Where did I say what they did was right or defend them? They don't need my defense they're big boys and can handle themselves. I let people fight their own battles unless I get personally thrown into it. I was simply informing YOU why people are mean to YOU.

Could be worse, Carman. There could be axe murderers on Storm Track.

I heard there were. Didn't check the e-mail with snopes or anything, but that is what I heard. I think they are hidden health care drones looking for elderly chasers.

No doubt. The "Death Panels" are also armed with chainsaws, at least that's what President Unelect John McCain told me. They're looking to hack up any post that doesn't meet their most stringent expectations.
