A nice little September treat in the eastern Texas Panhandle and far western Oklahoma. I observed the intense supercell in Hemphill County, TX with a beautiful dissipating LP in OK at sunset. Unfortunately as I was heading home, my vehicle tagged an 8-point buck with the front passenger side. I'm fine although my vehicle suffered moderate damage. The deer fared much worse though. A few pics from my full chase report.

I could not resist going out (SDS) and caught the Hemphill storm as well. The storm were real nice, but the thing I will remember most about the chase will be the animals I saw. I was just a bit more lucky than Steve and missed the ones that ran in front of me. I saw about 15+ turkeys, 2 turtles, 2 coyotes, 1 armadillo, 1 racoon, 5+ deer. The Aramdillo was waiting for me over a hill on a rural road in west OK and the racoon played "chicken" with me on a bridge near Caprock Canyons on the way home. The storms were very nice on the other hand. Saw a few small areas of tight rotation a few times and missed all the hail. I did see a good size funnel coming out the back side of cell east of Mangum just after the sun went down. It was only there a few seconds and by the time I grabbed my camera it was already gone. For September it definitely turned out pretty good chase other than the suicidal animals.
