I've just relocated to Ohio this spring and its been a more active season around these parts than I ever remember living in the Chicago area. The line of cells that traversed central Ohio yesterday ramped up just as they hit my area.

Does anyone have Level 2 data from the cell that passed through Wayne County from about 21:16-21:50Z?? We have a long and narrow damage path starting about 1/4 mile from my front yard. I've been trying to get a hold of KCLE as it appears there was no report, but their phones are swamped as you can imagine. I've fairly certain this will result in a EF0-EF1 confirmation.

Going out to get better damage shots today. I followed the path last night a couple miles, but down power lines and trees prevented me from seeing the rest. I couldn't chase during the event because my wife had the car, but from the front yard I could see debris aloft and around 5 power flashes. I also noticed that the sound was very distinct almost like heavy equipment operating. I've never heard that in all my years on the plains, maybe I've just never been this close before.

This is the neighbor's yard, damage was very linear and only about 20 yards across.

We experienced some very heavy winds up here.

Quite a few trees down/big broken branches, lawn furniture blown around, kids play sets tipped over, etc... pretty much just the norm for Ohio storms.

Here are a few shots that a friend of mine sent me from her cell phone at her house yesterday afternoon after the one cell passed by around 4pm. This was in Monroeville, Ohio.

Where do you live in OH?

The tail-end Charlie that crossed from Athens into WV showed some pretty impressive rotation on GR3. At one point in WV there was G2G shear of over 120 kts, and a TVS showed a delta v max of 142 kts.

I dont know. From the pictures I've seen of the damage from the Wayne County tornado, I'd say a high end EF1, possible EF2 tornado went through there.

man where I lved we got pretty lucky. We did have one report of 70 mph winds in Mahoning county though where I live. 4 miles se of New Middletown to be exact which is not even 20 miles from my house. Seems to have been alot of local area of dmage since I we got was a crap load of rain almost 2 inches but no wind or hail.

What is that 3 sperate torandoes right now? The one in Holmes county this one and the one in Athens county. Not to mention the torandoes in West Virginia.

Surveyed storm damage with the Charlestion NWS in three different areas within Athens county today. The damage in The Plains and the city of Athens were straightline winds ~100mph. We also confirmed a EF2 tornado south of Nelsonville from the storm we were on.

Here is the official release: http://kamala.cod.edu/offs/KRLX/1009172120.nwus51.html

Search around on that site and you will find more confirmed tornado. I think there are around 6 more tornadoes confirmed in Ohio alone. I will post some damage pictures later.

Isn't it kind late in the season to have so many tornadoes? I do not think we even had this many torandoes in one day in the spring when severe weather usually occurs.

It is not in the least bit unusual to have tornadoes this late in the year. In fact there is typically a second short tornado season that occurs in the fall as the jet stream migrates back south for the winter.

...once we get into october we have to wait until spring for anymore major severe weather and tornadoes.

Not true, I have filmed tornadoes in January. Severe weather and tornadoes can and have happened in every month of the year.

Now please return back to topic as this thread is not for the purpose of discussing general severe weather occurrence but is ONLY for the discussion of 9/16/10's severe weather in Ohio.
